Hello Neighbours.
Has anyone had quotes for security grills for there doors yet or has anyone had them fitted?
We have had a quote back from Taray for doors & windows but cant make head nor tail of the quote! We asked their rep for a quote for the front & back door + kitchen & bathroom windows and the solarium door. The quote is for door and window? your guess is as good as mine!!
Adios

hi kevin
just looking at your post about grills for doors & windows. the windows already have grills and the doors are solid with a good locking system. why the need for extra grills? it would also have to be approved by any future committee to be in keeping with the area I assume

Hi Vincent.
The extra security grills are for the Solarium door and the kitchen door & rear windows. I would agree that the front door is ok and so are the grills on the downstairs windows.
As for being approved by a future committee, without offending anyone, I want to have My property secure Now! And not later when there is a committee, which is probably months if not another year away.
While I was out in March signing for ours I noticed a lot of residents have alarms already on their properties, this is something else I am considering. Along with window locks for the front & rear windows.
I think if your living their security is already an issue, but when your thousands of miles away its paramount, and I will be doing everything to ensure our property is safe & secure.
Whilst we were out in Spain signing we stayed at an apartment owned by one of the residents of Torre, and without sounding critical of the property, which I am not, it was like Fort Knox. Which we appreciated all the security futures being there and if it were my property I think I would sleep better at night knowing I had done everything possible to keep it so.
I have asked Taray to supply me with a quote for these extra security features, and I have asked them to keep the grills the same as what is already on the property to keep it in keeping to what is already installed.
May be as a group of residents, if we all wanted some of these features we could get a discount?

Hi Kevin,
I agree with everything you have said. As you know it was our oproperty in Villamartin which you stayed in. The extra security is for our own peace of mind and one of our concerns at Balsicas is that not all the windows and doors have grills(particularly the doors off the balcony on the semis).
The odd property at our development at Villamartin has been broken into which is why we have taken the steps of fitting locks and grills to every window. We have also sealed the grills to stop them being forced off the wall which is what happened to one property. It should be noted that the properties which were targeted were all broken into whilst occupied as it appears the thieves are more interested in cash/ credit cards etc as opossed to taking the TV.
The extra security provides peace of mind and hopefully the harder you make it for them the more likely the thieves are to move on.
It would be useful if you could post details of Taray's costs for the grills. Based on their quotes for additional tiling and air con i suspect they will not be cheap. At Villamartin we only had the grills fitted initially at the front by the builder and subsequently arranged for somebody independent to fit the rear ones (which match the front) so it might be worth shopping around for a quote. Also if a few of us want them we may be able to negotiate a discount which will be even better!

Hi
We would certainly be interested in any quotes you get for additional security. Our house is a 3 bed terrace. We had thought for the utility area at the rear, that we could possibly have a grill fitted over the flat roof to make it more secure? As far as I can remember its just the rear downstairs door/windows and the solarium door/window which don't have any grills.
We did read/heard somewhere that the first thing you should do is change the locks on the doors and these are used by all the contractors?
Regards to all. Sue & John plot 24

HI Kevin
We would also like to be included if you are going to look for quotes for extra security grills, adding to what Sue said I think we will need security grills for the upstairs back bedroom that leads out onto the terrace.

Hi Everone
We are going back over next week for a few days whilst furniture is being delivered. The reson we are goiing is we dont trust Parador. I have been e-mailing them since we came back from signing for the property. As part of their responsibilities they are suppose to ensure your furniture gets sorted / unpacked etc. Im gettin NO replies to mails.
As for security quotes Taray did supply me with 1 for: The Kitchen door and window, 580.20 for the door & 162.40 for the window, euros. The grills would be the same colour and style that is already on the properties.
What I intened doing when we go out next week if I have time is contact Dave & Debbie`s friend who looks after their property in Villa Martin as he is a builder. I did mention this to him when we were there last time. He knows a local Spainish tradesman who does grills etc. I will try and see if I can see him and look at his workmanship. But like I said befoe, if there are a few people interested we may get a discount rather thanTaray or whoever coming indervidualy to everyone.
What do ya think????

I have been reading all the messages from various residents regarding security grills.
We did approach Taray for a quote and were given a quote for 2,300 euros, this was for the kitchen door, the small window to the side, the large window, upstairs terrace at the back and the solarium door. I think that was expensive and found two very nice guys who do just grills their number is 966782612 or 639247345 name Ian and Ron. Their quote was considerably lower, we have asked them to do our house and to match the colour. Will let you know how we got on.

I saw this on another thread, looked interesting and cost effective.
RejaGard is a new burglar alarm system, manufactured in Britain, from the
highest quality stainless steel and space-age plastics. It is designed to
be fitted onto the external grills of your home and, once in place, it
cannot be removed as the holding brackets are designed with snap-off nuts
which do not allow for removal after installation. Of course, this means
that villains cannot take the alarm off the grill to gain entry to your
home. Any attempt to remove the RejaGard unit or tamper with it, will
result in the alarm being activated. In a nutshell, RejaGard turns each of
your outside window and door grills into an individual self-contained alarm
system. If somebody bangs on your grill, tries to remove it, or tries to
gain entry through it, the vibration of the metal causes the alarm to sound.
The unit is approximately 6" long x 2" x 2" and is powered by a 12-volt
battery designed to last for a year. Each individual unit has a unique
barrel lock which, in the case of window units, is required to change the
battery or to disconnect the unit for periodic cleaning of your grills,
windows, etc. Window units are usually left alarmed 24 hours a day. Door
units are available with an additional on-off key to facilitate easy
entrance and exit for you and your family to and from the premises. Should
the alarm be accidentally sounded, or indeed should a thief attempt to get
into your home, the alarm will sound for a full 90 seconds, after which it
switches off and resets itself to be used again.
Prices are as follows: window units E60 each, door units E65 each. Units
come with simple installation instructions, but if installation is required
add E5 per unit. The only additional expense is approximately E1 each for
batteries (annually). There are no monthly fees or service charges and the
stainless steel quality construction means that there is virtually no
maintenance for many years to come. J & S Enterprizes distributes and
installs RejaGard units throughout the Costa Blanca.
To summarize, RejaGard is designed to keep thieves OUTSIDE your home. You
and your family and pets, if any, can move about freely inside 24 hours a
day with peace of mind, knowing your house is being protected from the
outside.
