Me and my wife have recently purchased an apartment in Duquesa Village for a holiday home.  We were over last weekend furnishing the place and wondered if anyone could help with some questions -

1) We cannot receive any channels (albeit Spanish channels) on our brand new tv, the installers think it's something to do with the site aerial, any dieas ??

2) Can anyone supply the name and contact details of the president of Duquesa Village ??

3) Can SKY tv be received via some 'dodgy' box for around 20 Euro's a month (so I am lead to believe) but am also told it may be getting cut off soon ??

4) Is the development in the process of being re-painted ??

Thanks a lot, thats it for now.

Lee & Kerry

Hi welcome to DV

Regarding the satellite connection the wiring in the socket is wrong and needs to be changed. I'll dig out the details of the guy who will fix it for a small fee.

You'll find it mentioned on this forum a few times if you search sky TV postings

A sky box without subscription will give you basic channels or a freeway box is another option

Hi Lee and Kerry

Welcome to DV!

Steve is correct. The wiring is completely wrong and needs to be redone. The guy from Kings Klub fixed it for me. I don't have his number but he usually advertises in the Diary I think. (Pick up the diary free around the bars in the port)

The president is called Francisco. I will pm you his email address. If you don't speak Spanish maybe I can help you, I am on the committee for the urb.

Yes sky can be picked up by a "dodgy" box for about £20 per month but as you have been told, sky may be changing their satellites and you may lose all the channels unless you have a huge dish. (Even our community dishes are not big enough) you can also pick up UK free view with a normal old sky box.

Yes the community is in the process of being repainted starting with blocks 2,3 and 4 and then moving onto the others in order of age.

Hoe this helps

Daniela

More discussion about the incorrect TV dish wiring can be found on an earlier post.  It ought to be found by search - I haven't tried.

If i were living in Spain in the longer term I would consider TV via Internet link.

I deliberately don't have TV in my place - its the last thing I want when on vacation.
