Hi I have just returned from CDS and had the oppretunity of meeting the new owners as they have just occupied the porta cabins where Arenal staff previously worked from.  Gerens have been employed to undertake existing work which start in around 1or 2  weeks as every where is shutting down due to Holy week.  By now you should all have recieved a letter from Arenal explaining the hand over, although this is in spanish!  In respect of fase 4, they are waiting for the Town Hall to start work on the road at he side of fase 4 which will include adding street lights etc, then they can continue with fininshing off the block.  Whilst over there I had the oppertunity to sneak into block 4, 6 which have all the cupboards and kitchens in, although they are still outstanding the electrical appliances. All of Arenal`s previous staff, ith the exception of Oliver have been made redundant, which was diffificult for them as they didnt find out till friday eviening.  They became quite upset and tearful.  Over all fase4 is looking very nice and Gerens are hoping to get things moving asap.

Hi Chen,

We must have been out there at the same time as you, we arrived on Monday 26th and left on Sun 1st April to catch the ferry home as we have purchased most of our funiture in the UK and drove it out in our Transit van to our apartment.

Do you know if Arturo has Been sacked?, if he has it is a shame as we have always found him helpful.

Lets hope Gerens will pull out all the stops to finish off the development.

We have not recieved a letter from Arenal explaining the takeover and don't know of anyone else that has either.

Hi babe,

The Caja Sur bank have now bought all of Arenal's shares in the site and they have employed the construction company Gerens to finish it off.  There is a telephone number on the Arenal2000/Arenal golf site but when I rang it yesterday all I could get from the lady who answered the phone was "No English No English" so unless you speak Spanish this number is a waste of time.  There are quite a few people out at  the Arenal site over Easter so perhaps we will get more information when they return.

As far as I know Arturo is still around, I am pleased that he is still there as he is very polite and helpful.  The road at the  side of phase four will need to be passed by the Town Hallbefore they proceed with any work.  Gerens are a big company that have been employed to manage the site and complete any outstanding work.  They are familiar with sites similair to Arenal and have a big portfolio.  I have every faith that they will be able to complete the task ahead and I feel thay with be more effecient than Arenal have been.  The number you have been given for Gerenswill not have anybody available that t speakes english for the next 2 weeks but they have assured me that this will happen sooner rather than later.  i thgink all we can do is watch this space and give it a couple of weeks before we statrt to see progress. I am very hopeful

Hi everyone! It's my first time on Eye on Spain forum...  !  Just wanted to add a little input on Arenal. I spoke to a rep. of Gerens today & he said that not much is going on now. They are still settling down, making necessary checks & that in around three weeks they will be able to give everyone a better idea of completion time frames etc. apparently they will be installing a kind of call centre so that info can be provided to all clients. They are aware & concerned that everyone is stressing but hope to give a good service. He was really helpful & polite. His name is Miguel if anyone wants to speak to him but his English is very poor.  I am very hopeful too!

This is a general update,

we are actually buying in phase 3 which was completed last Oct but are happy not to have completed yet as we still wish to sell before completion.

i have just come back from Arenal and concur with Marts, i met some of the Gerens staff in the Arenal sales offices and they say they need at least a couple of weeks to get up and running, they do not have keys at the moment or paperwork so site visits need to be put on hold until they can get access, they suggested we visit in May when everything should be resolved. We have a tel no but you will need some comprehension of Spanish as the people we met speak few words of English.

Gerens tel 902232244

Letters explaining the situation were put into our post box in phase 3, (not much good if you do not visit site) we only managed to get it out as there was so much junk mail in there so it was accessable from the opening.most of the post boxes were the same as many of the appartments are still unoccupied.

The site is looking better and the grass looks like it has benefited from the recent wet weather.

Hi all,

Have just heard that Oliver left the Arenal site yesterday and Arturo is leaving today and there will probably be no workers on site until the begining of May.
