Hi All,
We never had any problem for the last 3-4 years, but a couple of days ago we had some clothes stolen from our terrace!
Reported the issue to the security guards and they showed me a bag full of stolen clothes but unfortunately they were not ours. And after speaking with some neighbours, it looks like this is a known issue and has been going on for few days already. People helping themselves from other people's houses.
There were some reported similars cases on gardens 12 and 13, beside the stolen bikes....
if you have any information that can help everybody onsite, could you please share it
Thank you.

I remember reading somewhere that Chaddy (known as chaddyowl) is on site until the 8th sept. If the clothes are pastel coloured flared trousers and flowered penny round shirts then you have got your man!
(sorry to make light of a serious issue......but I couldnt restrain myself)

I know we see Security at the gates/barriers, we see security cars driving around CdA (they may do this frequently but you only see them when you are on the inner ring road) and I saw a security person twice checking our pool in the almost 4 weeks we managed to spend on CdA between July and the end of August.
Do they do any general walking patrols about the Jardin's?
It's a great pity thefts of any knid are happening but we do need a more obvious deterrent.

I see security patrolling regularly in car, on moped and on foot...the problem is if someone is going to steal something it is impossible to catch them as they obviously wont do it when security beside them!! Security have 13 Jardines, 8 Naranjos, 16 (?) Penthouse blocks and La Isla. Do we have 2 security mobile patrols?? If so, they have very little hope of being in the right place at the right time to catch a thief. Normally I would say we need to be careful and lock up our belongings....but clothes off a line???? There is nothing you can do in this situation!!! Unbelievable!!!!

It is unbelievable. I suppose what I was saying is that we probably need more security and for them to be even more obvious. Its not so much about committing a theft with security looking over your shoulder but with the belief that they could be observing you or are around the corner. CdA is a big place and the apartments lend themselves to quiet spaces where its hard to see if anyone is there. As there are alot of rentals people don't know who is supposed to be on a property.
The only thing that could be done is to put clothes etc inside to dry if you go out, this is impracticle and can lead to damp problems.

I hate the thought of a “Big Brother” syndrome, Security Cameras everywhere but I fear that if this type of thing happens on a regular basis it might prove to be the only solution
I have a terrible memory so may be very wrong but do these thefts only occur during the summer months when there is the open market & do these thefts coincide with the same days & dates
Just a thought

Hi Redrose
In some ways, well in many ways I am relieved about that as it would be a great pity if the Saturday markets were stopped due to thefts but then unfortunately it does shed a different light on the type of people who are either living or renting on Condado.
I know my next statement will ruffle a few feathers & may sound rather snobbish (it`s not intended to) but has this type of thing only started to happen since the drastically reduced sale of property`s.
This unfortunate publicity caused by a few could have a detrimental effect on the sale of property`s reduced or not & the only way to stop it is for security to be increased & those dam cameras to be installed.

How many cameras do you think you'd need to cover everyone's terrace at Condado? It isn't practical. Simple solution is that security check all vehicles leaving the resort. We are currently paying them to wave to us as we enter and leave the resort.

Hi Kev
I could not agree with you more. But I & others have been ranting on about increased security checks on every vehicle for ages & nothing has changed. Maybe the stolen clothes & other items are not going off Condado. so security checks on cars etc is not going to stop these things happening.
Yes, security cameras are not price practical but having received 5 PM`s from people on Condado saying they are either looking to have or have got their own security camera`s now then unfortunately this may be the only solution. Very costly I know & not everyone will want or can afford them but I see no other option unless people will be prepared to report anything looking slightly suspicious to the security. If it’s an owner then I am sure they won’t mind. Better to be safe than sorry.

Have no idea of cost of cameras but to my recollection it is cheap in UK for individual security. Must be cheaper to cover each car park (not each property). What is recorded on security search of vans leaving site? Thefts are only reported later ( even months later on discovery of missing items.

try looking at these DIY cameras. I am considering them as they can be accessed from your smartphone over wifi connection. http://www.maplin.co.uk/swann-advanced-500gb-4-channel-cctv-kit-with-2-bullet-cameras-787998

I have installed an IP camera on my property in Corvera which I bought from Amazon, iit cost me 50 pounds, and woorks well as it sense movement only if somebody comes into my garden, it senses motion and records the activity and notifies my Iphone
The camera came with all of the software and wasn't easy to setup as the setting had to be changed in the router
The main thing is however is an internet connection in the property for this type of service which a lot of holiday homes dp not have
The other good idea is to install a PIR motion sensing, either a simple one that comes on when senses motion or the more sophiscated ones have a built in camera and simm card which records the information

Maybe drones fitted with GPS and cameras is the way to go for security to monitor the entire resort. I have saw them in use by police at music festivals and they appear to be very effective and should act as a deterrent. I took a look and they seem to cost around £1000 per unit with GPS and camera.
