We have a 2 bed, 2 bath apartment on the Spanish village (I think they are similar to the Oasis ones). Our average electricity bill is usually between €30 and €40 euro per month (this includes a standing charge and IVA).
We were out there every 5/6 weeks last year and used more electricity in the winter months as we used the hot air con occasionally.
We always make sure we switch off the electricity when we leave though. Might be worth trying this to see what difference it makes. Remember to leave the fridge and freezer open if you do.

Hi LouiseG,
Have a look on your Iberdrola Bill and depending wether it's in English or Spanish you need to look for the "Potencia" or at the bottom os the 1st page under Contract Data you will see "Contract Capacity" I have recently come across one on Hacienda which was set at 9.25Kw (Mine is set at 5.75kw) this makes a massive difference to the standing charges as you are paying them for the amount of electricity you might draw down all at once but are being charged all of the time. Just be aware if you set this too low then while using too many heavy usage items at once (aricon, cooker straightners, hairdryer, kettle and heaters etc) then you could have the power trip out and need to reset the consumer unit (fuse box). If this does happen regularly then you can get them to increase slightly until you find some middle ground. 9.25kw is far too high and can make over €40 each month difference even when your place is empty.

Tom,
Thank you. Yes, I suspect that is what it is, as initially we had a lot of power outages, and someone at HDA called the electricity company for us to try to solve that. I suspect this was the result!
Thanks all!
Louise

Hello everyone,
I recently bought a two bed apartment at El Oasis (Malasia 4). I visited the apartment in December and January and can confirm guards are still patrolling the erea.
Has anyone had any cooling off pool problems? I had black algae at the bottom of my pool, but eventually got rid of it using a mixture of Coca Cola and clorine granules and shocking the pool for three nights in a row with chlorine granules. I am glad to say the pool now looks pretty good.
The other problem is the pool filter. I went to Astralpool (San Miguel de Salinas) in January to buy a replacement pool filter, but was advised they no longer make these filters. Has anyone replaced their pool filter and if so, where did you buy the filter and what are the dimensions (I forgot to take this when I left the apartment in January).
Any help would be appreciated..
Would also like to meet up with folks visiting HDA in April (8th to 14th) to share some ideas.
Thanks,
Johan

Hi Folks
Me and my good lady wife (Sandie) are visiting HDA on the 17th & 18th Feb to have a look round with a view to purchasing a 2 bed apartment in the not too distant future.
We are arranging to see some places with Saphire properties and are keen to know if anybody has used this firm, or have any other recommendations?
If at all possible, we're also hoping to bump into some existing owners that could offer first time foreign purchasers some hints, tips and pitfalls to be aware of. If anyone is around on those dates and could possibly spare some time, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks in anticipation... of a reply, and of seeing the resort :)
Nick

Hi
I can recommend Tom at MurciaVillas to you
He helped me a lot when I went to HDA last year.
They seem to have a lot of sold boards around the resort and they provide the whole service, solicitors, nie numbers, bank accounts, notary, currency exchange, key holding and rentals. If you need it.
10/10 service in my opinion 👍🏻
