How to avoid Spanish Inheritance Tax

Is anyone seeking compensation for the delay in completing?

We signed up on R7 two years ago last April, we completed the snagging list in December and were advised we could complete at the end of January, we're still no further forward and have no idea when the completion date is likely to be.  The solicitor mentioned we may be entitled to compensation, but have received no figures to-date, and only excuses when the subject is brought up.  We'd like to know if anyone is in the same boat.

Like you, we signed up two years ago and are still waiting for 'completion'. We have completed the purchase [ie paid the builders] so we could move in, as have quite a few more, but we do not have the escrituria yet. We were lucky in that we were not having a Spanish mortgage, but we are a bit uncomfortable with paying and not yet having the deeds. Our solicitors are happy with the situation, saying it is 'normal', and indeed we have friends who live in Spain who waited almost a year for their papers! Talking to the builders does not help - I think only a concerted effort by the buyers who cannot complete in writing to Quara will get something done. If you bought through a sales company, perhaps their after sales department might help - but if it was Parador, forget it. We were with them and their service was appalling.

Like you I think parador are useless they do nothing to help they just fob you off with allsorts.I think we

should be due some compensation, we should have completed sept 2006.Good news about the
