My husband took his chargeable drill and used it every day. We came home laden with goodies from our frequent daily shopping trips and he would then get cracking with light fittings, towel and loo roll holders, etc. Unless you are incredibly organised and a compulsive list maker, you won't realise just how many things you need til you live in it. Step ladders, laundry baskets, pegs, airers, hosepipe and lock for cupboard on terrace ... to name a few. The ferreterias have most things but a trip to ikea and Carrefour are invaluable if you don't have much time and need to do it all in one or two hits.
It was fantastic to swim in the sea and the pool (both about the same temperature) and relax on our candlelit terrace listening to crickets in the evenings. The Wok Buffet is doing a roaring trade - get there b4 10pm if you want a table. There was a big outdoor concert - Creamfields - just up the road in Villaricos one saturday night. Basement Jaxx and The Prodigy were headlining; we climbed to the top of our block and watched the light show. Once you've done all the boring shopping, you can have fun in the many "Muebles" which are crammed full of lovely finishing touches. We bought our garden set from Flomar close to Vera Sur on the dual carriageway approaching the island with fountain and bull ring. They also had some nice light fittings, pictures and other goodies.
It's a scramble to get your shower cubicle and bath screen. Many people are doing the same thing and stocks are unavailable until end of August/early September. Vera Sur does supply and fit on a 2 week timeframe (prices include fitting). We found a man who is fitting both for 50 euros so PM me for details - he came recommended by Wetone, turned up when he said he would and was efficient and helpful. He does other fixits too.
Any questions, just ask. Be glad to help. Good luck with your own completions and you won't be disappointed.
