I have just been in contact with Rosa from AEA and she has informed me that she (AEA) are in conversation with a company called 'Connectivity Warehouse' about providing Internet Access to DV. I do not have any details about how this will be achieved however Rosa will advise after her meeting.

John, we requested this at the AGM in August - and AEA confirmed they would go ahead and get quotes for a wifi hotspot at DV. Obviously, once up and running, access codes/passwords would have to be given to owners, I would imagine.
Be great if it's done and dusted and approved sooner rather than later. There are probably quite a few of us who could do with i'net access there.
Good news that they have been following it up! One does wonder ....

One thing I did notice when I was in DV last week was that a contractor for Telfonica was laying telephone cables throughout the development so another option may be open to us all shortly by buying broadband services on the back of a landline connection.

I too noticed the engineers Steve and actually tried to have a conversation with the man down the hole! However, his lack of English and my lack of Spanish didnt get us far. He just kept repeating "we do telephonica"! Mimmie

Internet Access would be wonderful. It would permit :-
a) the prospect of working whilst at DV
b) use of voice over IP (great call savings).
c) keep in contact through this forum whilst at DV.
d) being able to do ebanking transactions.
e) download loading music from my online stroage
f) download UK TV programmes and playing on iPlayer. Who needs satellite?
Twice I've been at DV when the pound soared against the Euro and I was unable to do a trade because of lack of secure access (although I do have a plan to solve that one)..

I know a lady in DV who has got internet access through a mobile, she went to Vodafone in Estepona, where they speak english and bought a modem for €29 then she plugs it in to her PC, she is also given a mobile phone and is charged €59 a month. Fine for home use.

HI I live in dv and have the internet i alvo went to the vodafone shop although all other mobile phone shops do it including movistar in sabillias as the previos post said 29euro for the modem and 59euro pm which includes a mobile phone on contract also with free calls to spanish landlines
you can also take the modem out and plug in a laptop anywhere although does cost more money out of spain but it really does the job

I have been enquiring about Wifi access on behalf of the community and I have received a proposal from a company who can insta a number oh hotspots and thus access to internet. Wifi also allows other applications to be run on it such as CCTV , VOIP. I have emailed AEA and am awaiting their response.
Basically the community would be expected to pay for the installation of hotspots ( about €15,00 each and number will be probably be 2) and each resident and subscribe monthly for secure access at €20 per month. So for rentals , long and short, and occassional visitors that should suit.
I expect at the thefirst DV management meeting this will be discussed.

John,
That's excellent news.
For those of us who use voice over IP applications to phone home - wi-fi access is a boom.
And for those of us who can work 'at home' occassionally it's utopia.
