air conditioning

hello everybody

has anybody looked into air conditioning for our place 's in the sun  have just had a quote from someone at parador i think it was a bit pricey but not sure as have nothing to compare to as yet  we are going out this weekend for two weeks so will have a look at some

Hi Rosita,

Is your place ready Feb like ours ? If it is then we too will have to start giving this some thought. Probably the weather not being so hot at this time gives us a month or two to organise this. There are many different capacities and qualities available and it is our understanding that that it maybe cheaper to buy 1 unit per room, rather than buy a "super -powered " one to do the whole house. Also to be considered is whether you want a unit that both heats and cools? Plus are you going to be living there or renting it out on a permenent or semi-permenent basis? If you are, you may wish to look at the more expensive brands . If you are only using it as a holiday home then possibly a less expensive make would suffice as it will not be under such constant usage . It might be an idea to look at other new developments nearby and see what is being installed there. It may even be possible to negociate a discount with a supplier if enough of  us were willing to commit to a purchase / installation at the same time? I would also ask Taray themselves. I'm sure they would be able to give us contacts and possibly prices. As most of us are probably not used to buying aircon units at home, would we know what a good deal was ?  If  anyone is given a quote then post the details. if anyone can better it then lets hear about it.

We have been speaking to Gareth Woods at Inside Right - www.insiderightespana.com 

They are a Uk based company that opened a showroom approx 7 months ago on the next trading estate behind the Polaris World head office at Balsicas. They do furniture packages (they have just fitted a quad last week on our development). They are gradually getting in more furniture & accessories suitable for the spanish market. They also fit lights, air conditioning units etc Air con units are from 282 euros - not sure how this compares.

We are going to visit them when we go out on the 25th Nov, however they are very efficient in sending info, pictures, graphics etc by email

I got a quote through Parador October 2006 for the installation of hot/cold A/C in a penthouse - four internal units and two boxes on the outside wall.  The quote was for €3000.

What  are other companies quoting?
