Could someone please enlighten a new user. What terms did we violate when we introduced ourselves, and posted a link to a site with some good photos of the new clubhouse on the day it opened? What were we selling? I am confused. Getting our first post removed doesn't make us feel very welcome! Are there pictures of the clubhouse here? Where? Why can't we post links. This is standard practise in every other forum we have ever frequented :(

Hi robnsue,
What type of site did your link direct people to? if it was similar to EOS or a commercial site this would be the reason your post was edited,

Hi All. I am told by my key holder that the Clubhouse is open, she has enjoyed a drink at the bar! Going out tomorrow for a few days: anyone fancy a game of golf, Mon pm, Tues pm, or anytime Wednesday?

I have just posted some photos of the clubhouse which were taken yesterday evening. The bar and outside terrace are really gorgeous and everything looks perfect. Views in the evening are beautiful with sunset in the distance and the terrace bar is doing great trade.
Menu is much more varied with a wide selection of tapas etc and a separate dinner menu for 18.50euro for three courses with four choices per course - excellent value and first class wine list. There are a lot more people about and I spoke to a number of owners and visitors there last night who were delighted with the new facility. Even though it took longer than expected we all agreed that it was well worth the wait.

hi
Great photos and I agree it looks absolutely wonderful. The dinner menu sounds great too.
Thanks a lot - I think this is all getting quite reassuring so we can assume the Beach Club, when it is finished, will meet the same standard.

Our dedicated management company have emailed us the extensive tapas & dinner menu , it has really got our mouths watering & cant wait to sample the menu when we are over in a couple of weeks time , the clubhouse pics have more than lived up to expectations , this is a fantastic addition to the resort & am sure it will prove to be very very popular with both golfers & non golfers alike.
Well done Mike & Linda , keep up the excellent work

Does anybody know if you will be allowed to walk to the club house from Phase 3 and 4 without going all the way round?
It is a shame you cannot do a full circle of the development but there are signs saying golfers only which would stop you walking directly from phase 4 which is close to the club house as the crow flies but is a good 20 min walk going back the other way.

I arrived back in Spain this evening and am glad to say that all is well in Roda and the clubhouse was very busy this evening. I was talking to someone there who told me that the course was very busy as was the resort over the weekend.
The only sour note was that when I was going over to the clubhouse I passed a man (not sure if he was an owner) coming back from the clubhouse, accompanied by two young children and he was wearing a black football outfit. He was definitely on the wrong side of forty for a full football kit which is excusable on children or youths but worrying on someone of that vintage.
I am a member of a golf club in the UK (certainly not the most prestigious) where he would not have been allowed into the car park with a football outfit on but I got to wondering if De Vere would be happy about this and if we the members (Golf rights holders) are happy that there is at present as far as I know no dress code for the clubhouse. I appreciate that with the warm weather shorts are preferred but I think that the least we can ask for is collared tee shirt, tailored shorts or trousers and absolutely no football kits as it sends the wrong message and can lead to problems when rival club kits are worn. Perhaps it would be an idea to adopt the traditional golf club rules of no one over 16 in any track suits or football shirts and this would solve the problems (should they arise) but better safe than sorry in my opinion!!!
I was speaking to a lady in the clubhouse who asked if there was a dress code as she had two young sons with her who only had jeans and was told that there was no problem with children in jeans which is the way it should be of course.
I am not being a snob and appreciate that there are problems with golf club dress codes being perceived as out of date and elitist. I do not agree with golf clubhouses which require jacket and ties or which do not allow jeans. But come on - football kits being worn by adults- What do others think???

Have to agree with you, there should be at minimum of casual/smart for the evenings and just common sense don’t look like a scruff bag during the day. And yes of course no football kits on grown men period (nasty)!
I think I for one will write to Roda and ask if they intend to implement a code of some sort, and as we live here in Spain and are back at Roda this week, I will go in for a follow up chat. To the guy in the kit, ‘If you are reading this, no offence intended, but come on!!!
And to tengo sorry I was a bit blunt on the beach club thing, but nice to know we agree on something.

Dear Tengo and mike,
I agree with the dress code issue within reason (Casual but smart shorts included)
What we dont need is it getting out of hand and being refused access at the slightest thing, also please remember that we have all spent a lot of money at Roda not just the people with "golf rights" so as long as the club house is open to other owners and not just golf rights owners then I dont think the decision should be put in your and other golf rights owners hands.
Roda is a place for non golfing holidaymakers as well (as Roda keep advertising) and we all want to keep the standards up, but also want non golfers feeling welcome at the bar and restaurant and do not want them to feel like they are gatecrashing a private members golf club, as far as I am aware there is already a seperate area for golf rights owners by all means have the traditional golfing rules there.
By the way I am not the guy in the football kit (not got the legs for it)

Smart casual dress code is different from one country to the next so it would be impossible to monitor.
Example, jeans as we know are unacceptable in the UK, but in France they are welcome even in the most prestigious clubs.
We do need standards in the club house and its up to owners to set the right example. This applies to both on the course and apres golf in the Tapas/ restaurant.
Its very difficult to know where to draw the line, but i must say football/ rugby or any other team shirts should be banned for all age groups.
Its up to the management to keep up the standards and any body seeing innapropiate apparel should bring this to their notice.

Isn´t it great that we all agree so we will wait to see what Mike B can report back on the reaction of the management of the Clubhouse on this.
Smart casual is the perfect approach as a lot of young and not so young people wear jeans (often costing a lot more than my smart trousers!!) and it is essential that this information is passed on to our renters so that they are not embarrassed if they show up at the Casa Club dressed for the football pitch or beach.
Don´t worry RD I would be the last person in the world to suggest that we go down the route of stuffy golf club rules of jacket and ties and the stifling heat wouldn´t even feature in my reckoning. I just feel that we all need to be comfortable in the clubhouse and some people are uncomfortable with football strips being worn.

Aaaaaaaaaaawwwwwww I was SO looking forward to wearing my Cantona Man U shirt on the 21st May for the big match. Now I will have to content myself with wearing something more sober.
I too am all in favour of reasonable dress sense in the clubhouse especially in the evenings but agree with Sugarmummy that smart casual can vary from place to place.
As a Golf club member in UK, there are always issues over dress codes especially as some designer casual wear is very expensive but not always acceptable in the clubhouse.
It is obviously going to be down to the management, presumably De Vere, what codes if any they introduce but would be happy to help with representation of the owners views.
Not entirely sure though if people are happy with jeans or not and where do you draw the line?
For instance, do shorts have to be tailored, should socks be worn, are shirsts with no collars acceptable, to name a few.
You see how difficult it can get when stipulating dress codes.

Being a golfer myself, there is now plenty of golf wear avaiable that would never be allowed in club houses of yester-year. I would not opposse someone wearing jeans in the club house as long as they are dressed smartly. Surely a smart pair of jeans is better than a tattered pair of trousers.
We are now in 2008 and have to remember that golf is now so popular amongst the younger generation, most of them have never heard of tailored shorts and knee length socks. They're all now wearing their Lindeberg collarless golf shirts with shorts and ankle socks.
But i totally agree that football shirts are a no-no, before long whole gangs of supporters will be in there watching the football and singing songs.

We must remember that the clubhouse is for all Roda owners and not just golfers. I am not a golfer but I would always dress appropriately when having a drink/meal in the clubhouse just as I would if I was going to a bar/restaurant in the town. I would hope everyone would have the common sense to know what is appropriate. I would hate to see a list of rules of what was not allowed - you wouldn't see that in a restaurant in town. Let's assume that people wearing 'football kit' are few and far between. I'm sure most owners know how to behave.
