Hi,
Remember this is Spain and they are very used to go out with children and stay late.
There is no restriction in the Clubhouse regarding this. Feel free to go. they also have a fantastic children menu

Hi
Just returned from 5 days at Roda. We really enjoyed the food in the club house, the manager was execellent, so friendly and good at his job. On the Sunday night the bar was so busy. We brought our young children with us, they were made very welcome (thankfully they were well behaved!). ps wasnt my hubbie in football gear! I think if you are going out for a meal its always nice to make some sort of effort in what you wear.
Could anyone plz tell me is there going to be a supermarket on site or we going to have to go to the plaza to get a litre of milk?(wouldnt the old club house be a Super convience store in the meantime!!!!)

Just thought I would add my thoughts on etiquette in the clubhouse.
Do you think that it is good manners to sit with a lap top making use of free wireless in the clubhouse without even partaking of a meal or drink. Some people are beginning to take advantage of good will. Do people not think that others depend on tables and also staff depend on business even if it were only a cup of coffee.
I am totally embarassed by some peoples attitudes!

Ali,
I have to say your suggestion of the old clubhouse being our very own corner shop is one of the best ideas on the forum.
Have you contacted Calidona with this idea. ?

We will be at Roda from Tues 20 May for 8 days, so unless anyone finds out B4 then, we will ask the management if there is a chance of a corner shop.
The other main issue ref dress code / etiquitte will also be raised on this visit to see if any code is to be established etc etc

I know that it will be nice to have a small supermarket/shop on Roda but I really think that we will have to wait for the shopping centre to be open. Thinking about this as a serious commercial proposal I cannot imagine that the former clubhouse is a possibility for a variety of reasons:-
-the old clubhouse is the property of De Vere and not Roda/Calidona and is on the golf course which starts at the temporary car park so it would have to be De Vere who would set up and run the corner shop and I would very much doubt that this is would even feature on their radar. De Vere are only involved in five star resorts and this was why I bought here. I would not be happy with a makeshift corner shop slap bang in the middle of the pathway from the ninth to tenth tee. There would I am sure be major insurance considerations for De Vere with people coming and going to the supermarket across golf course property.
-a small shop would require some renovations and permissions for changes to the existing building and with the amount of time licensing takes in Spain the new shopping centre which will include a small supermarket will probably be built
-a corner shop would have insufficient trade at present to sustain it except for two to three months of the year and anyone proposing to run one would have to take this into account.
-there is a supermarket ie Consum approximately three minutes by car from Roda, a Mercadona in Los Alcazares and another Mercadona at San Javier both approximately five minutes away.
As regards a cafe/coffee shop given that the new clubhouse serves breakfast, doughnuts, pastries, coffees, teas and cakes etc for most of the day with a wide selection of tapas so it would be simply duplication of staff and work for De Vere to have a cafe and clubhouse doing the same thing within 150 yards of each other.
We are I am sure going to have to wait for the shopping centre to be developed but if you think we in Roda are badly off having to drive to Consum or Mercadona just imagine if you were in some of the far flung golf resorts out here such as El Valle, Hacienda de Riquelme or La Tercia where they are miles from supermarkets, bars, restaurants or cafes and we have everything within five minutes and our own new fabulous clubhouse to boot!!

I agree, a shop would be handy while we are waiting for the shopping centre to be ready, especially for those who do not drive.
I cant believe people are moaning about others wearing football shirts in the clubhouse, especially when it is/was the football season, people will be wearing football shirts. As long as people are covered up and not in their bikinis i cant see that it is a problem. It is a social environment for all on Roda, not just the golfers.

I fully agree with your comment about dress sense.
There are certain people on this forum who have very strong views on certain topics.
Have they ever flown first class with an airline. They certainly don't stipulate what you have to wear. Maybe the people who fly first class don't have ideas of grandeur like some of our fellow forum members.
What about the four well turned out golfers at Roda last week. They may have dressed as golfers but certainly didn't behave with much dignity. They kept everyone awake until 4 in the morning until spoken to by the husband of the community vice president.
I rest my case.
Live and let live!!!!

I certainly don’t have sense of grandeur and most people on this forum have strong views including you Kroda and so we should have it’s what the forum is for. You are right we should live and let live, and people should wear what they think is appropriate. I just think football kit on grown men looks naf off the pitch, just an opinion don’t shoot me.
As far as the golfers keeping people up till 4 in the morning, why the hell are we paying fortunes on security for?

Posting from the WiFi connection in th clubhouse as we speak, which is a little slow. I am extremely impressed with decor etc. especilly telly in the members changing rooms and the amount of space. Only complaint is lack of dining tables in bar as restaurant is not yey fully open and outside late on can still be cool. No soccer shirts but as long as people respect others then then can wear whatever as long as covered up.
Food is a touch pricey as you would expect but buckets loads especially puds.
Just taken advantage of the twight rate which is great value and weather improving after a few thunderstorms, looking forward to the next few weeks.

We have eaten in the club house a few times and it has been excellent. I did have an undercooked breakfast one day but that was a one off. Remember if you have beef or burgers what we call medium the spanish call very rare. Also no sign of anybody trying to sell me anything.

Also been to the clubhouse last night and had a wonderful meal.
Met other owners who are also very happy in Roda.
Similar to others, overall everything has been very positive and things seem to be comming together in the resort.

Now that the Club house has got its act together I think it’s great, the few teething problems they had to start with would appear to have been sorted out, and like any good restaurant or bar there will always be the odd glitch. The prices in general may look a little more expensive than other restaurants in town but like Chris said the portions are large. Linda and I always share; if you order a sandwich and fries or a few tapas, it’s enough for two and with a drink it’s normally only about 15 euro, and the old discount card is great, cos that’s the tip. And if you are out for an evening meal, it’s no more expensive than any good restaurant.
Also the thing is, if you do get a bad meal or service, say something. Some friend of ours had a bad experience a few weeks ago (a glitch week), had a word with the manager and he apologised and sent over a bottle of their most excellent champagne. On the other hand if it's really bad.....................don't pay the full bill, but still go back and give them another chance cos it can only get better.
Cheers all
Mike
