Hi Guys

Myself and partner recently sold our property in Valencia after Brexit. We've reinvested our money back in the UK. Things are fine, but in the last few weeks we've both really been missing Spain. The Idea of owning another holiday home is getting more and more appealing. We would love to go back to Valencia but this time our budget simply won't stretch that far. We have some cash left and don't want to get another mortgage. So my question to you guys is where could, if at all possible €70000 (we also have money for taxes and expenses) get you. Ideally we'd like the Valencia region but that's not a deal breaker. A small city or town large town would be great. Not directly on the coast but close enough to cycle there, say 30 minutes on a bike. Good public transport from the Airport so no hire car needed. We've seen Gandia has small apartments that require work on Idealista but just wondering if anyone else has suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Torrevieja city might be the answer 🤔  to your inquiry.. you will get a 1 bedroom apartment or studio for your budget in one of the older type apartment blocks .

Most of these links are from Murcia, Almeria and further South. Typically, but with some expections, Spain gets cheaper the further South you go. Valencia is more costly. But this is offset by things such as infrastructure. I wouldn't want to be reliant on public transport in rural Almeria for example, but where I am in El Campello in Alicante province, you really don't need a car at all as public transport is so top notch. This is also something that you need to consider as you maybe get older and don't want to be reliant on driving for every little chore.

So its about what you need and what you want to spend on it. When stuff gets cheaper, its often for a reason.

Also, the further you move away from the coast, the cheaper it gets. In some inland villages, even in Valencia or Albacete province, 70,000 can buy you a farmhouse with oodles of land, or a nice village house in decent condition with several bedrooms.

Yeah, you're right, prices drop the further south you go, but there's always a catch, like infrastructure. El Campello is a sweet spot because you’ve got great public transport, so no car is needed. That’s a huge plus if you’re not into driving everywhere, especially as you get older.

If you’re open to inland areas, places like Valencia or Albacete could be a solid option for more space, and you could get a decent house with land for a good price. But, like you said, cheaper places often come with trade-offs—less access to things like public transport or amenities. It really depends on what you're willing to compromise on!
