The Comments |
How about having the latest comment on a thread as the last page, nothing more frustrating than having to go back and to the bottom of a page to see what the comment was that started the thread in the 1st place, and then having to do the same to see how the comments and replies are progressing.
Just a thought.

Hi,
How about a "BIg Thanks" thread. Just that when I look through the different threads sometimes I come across some that have replied to my questions, replies have carried on and sometimes are missed until a couple of days later. I do like to thank people for their help so that would be a quick look thread for people

Justin, Darren's 3 clicks approach is standard good practice. - of course, you know that. But I believe it will only work on this site if the sub-categories are predefined and locked, or only created after authorisation by your team. Otherwise, I fear we will find members setting up duplicate, similar & confusing sub-categories, in place of the duplicate, similar & confusing threads we have now. I also truly believe that there should be a standard message format in the 'serious' categories so that members, particularly new members, may focus on content, rather than style. As for the 'social' categories, well.......anything goes.

As far as I can see there is no option to delete developments that you no longer wish to have listed or am I missing something

Yes Justin, I too would like to be able to delete some of the developments in which I am no longer interested. And can we have a search facilty please?

Just like to say hope there is not going to be any nastiness on this forum,(previous posts) as I thought this forum (unlike some others I could mention) was informative but chilled out, some people on here really do spend a lot of time finding out things for others( Jeansis and Fibby in particular) and i have had lots of help from this forum,So come on everyone , and Justin, I am sure whatever you organise will be GREAT.

the other forum you are being a bit nasty about, has its own strengths and weakneses, as does this one, and like this one, has been a great help to me, due to some fabulous people that post on it. I'm just really pleased that we have the amount of choice these days (compared to 5 years ago) to be able to take the bits we like from all the forums, and i think this 'our forum is better than yours' mentality is destructive, and really should have been left behind at junior school! Looking at the last few posts, it seems that most people want the serious stuff kept apart from other postings, and it's good there is a place for both.

You know you'll never please all of us, Justin!!
Personally, I prefer it the other way round! I suppose we could complain that it's a nuisance having to trawl through to the last page to get to the most recent messages! To me, it would figure that if you see the latest message first, you can decide whether you are interested and want to rummage through to find the initial posts. Whereas this way, we HAVE to rummage to find the latest posts on threads that we regularly view!
Don't know what everyone else thinks? Maybe it would be a good idea, if possible (which I believe I've seen on other forums), to let us have the option to view old or new posts displayed first?
What do you think? This message was last edited by Pitby on 2/24/2007.

There you are! Just clicked on return to view this post/thread and had to click again to the last page and scroll down!! Now, personally, I find THAT a little frustrating!!
You'll probably have half of us want it one way, and the other half the other way!!

Am I the only person who finds it frustrating to have to scroll down through a screen of ads (I know they are necessary) before finding the first message? could the header not be a bit smaller?
Otherwise - I think the formum and its contributors are "ace" !!
