just back from beach club for the first time since it reopened, and thought id get myh tuppence in ;-)
first of all we aranged to go at 2pm after reading pamphlet which was given to us at clubhouse - only to find at 2.15 that the times have been changed from 10am, 12 noon, and 2pm pickups to 11am, 1pm, and 3pm pickups!
we went to clubhouse and they appologised for not telling us and told us to speak to beach club manager for free drinks.
the manager rodrigo was not in today but his assistant - whose name i did not catch - could not have been nicer!
he appologised and told us to have free drinks.
please anyone booking beach club double check times to and from as they seem to change monthly.
the leaflet showing times was seemingly from june, but still up in window of service office.
first impressions of the place were great, although no one offered us owners armbands even when i showed our card.
i think i noticed only 2 or 3 peolpe ther with wristbands so you had no idea who the owners were.
we saw a few people wander in who were not owners as we heard the receptionist ask.
this is fair enough but the pool area was full and im sure ther was probably non owners there, so what if we wanted to use it?
anyway we went to beach, which was cleaner than the lat time but could still do with maybe some imported sand or at least a rake a couple of times a day.
there is good snorkeling out by the two islands if you take the time to wade out there.
we ate at pool bar around 6pm but had to wait 30 mins to be offerd drinks - only after i went to bar myself.
then after another 20 mins i spotted out drinks on the bar but no one wasbringing them over.
i eventually went inside and offered to take them over myself, but the waiter ,who then looked after us superbly, promptly brought them over.
i think they could do with some more staff on at pool bar especially.
they also def need more ashtrays as ther was loads of butts lying around on floor of pool bar - disgusting - and we saw a few people smoking just flicking ash on ground because they had no ashtrays, but people walk there barefooted!
the food was quite good, just not as good as clubhouse , which we found excellent.
when we were leaving the staff were setting up lots of new , huge umbrellas, to replace the existing ones, which shows they are learning what people want and are constantly changing to suit.
i think they will get it right and do believe it will be fantastic as they learn.
i tried to log on upstairs, which was nice by the way, but i could not get online.
dont know if this is a temp thing or if i was missing something?
we took the ferry this time but to be honest it was a bit slower overall as driving yourself, with the only benefits as being able to have a drink.
personally i think the convenience of not being stuck to times is worth the drive.
we again were unlucky to catch the swing bridge up both coming and going so the bus journey at the la manga side was about 20 mins each time.
if anyone at roda is reading i would like to say you are on the right tracks but it would be so much better once you have the watersports on site and if you could get some kind of ferry closer it would be fantastic.
we did enjoy our trip there today but thought we would share our experiences and hopefully some of the info above will be of help to someone ;-)
