I am all for some sort of compensation - maybe free golf fees for life to compensate???? I don't want to give away anything that I am already paying for. - not even one day to outsiders.

I have been to the Beach Club in the last week and really enjoyed the whole experience. Our food was great (obviously we hit it on a good day) and the service was a little slow but the place was really busy so we just chilled out and enjoyed it. There are some small improvements which could be made but this is month two and the staff are very helpful and doing their best.
I agree that it would be great if the Beach Club was exclusive but can appreciate that it would not last very long if De Vere were depending on only us owners using it. Let´s face it most of us are going to use it once or twice during our two week breaks and how would that possibly sustain a start up business which has had very substantial investment. We have to be realistic about the sustainability issue as I for one would not want it to close due to lack of support or for the opening times to be restricted due to lack of support.
Are the previous posts suggesting that renters on Roda are not allowed to use it as they are "not owners"? There were quite a few renters on the bus when we went across and back and I imagine that De Vere will need them to keep the business going. This weekend and coming week the Beach Club is practically booked out as it is a big Spanish holiday period and the bar and restaurant I understand is open to anyone which I can understand as the area of La Manga strip is poorly served by restaurants and I would rather see it busy than empty as there is no atmosphere in a practically empty building.

Still think it is totally unfair to describe the beach club as a free for all.
I know for a fact that people turned up at the beach club from L a Manga Club and could not get in for the day .They had to leave again.
If somebody is such a fan of Roda would they not have said something like " I understand that some people are at the beach club who are not from the Resort ,has anybody else heard that?
Why would you describe it as a free for all when it is clear it is not, why?
The question of others being there is an issue for me also but I will not alarm the fourm with headline statements , with the freedom of speech you also have to be seen to be fair.

Chill people and enjoy your investment
As previous stated it is the spanish holiday month so it wont always be as busy even if Devere let non owners use the facility
I think certain people are being rather selfish here

I value all truthful comments on the forum.
No offence intended but I don't like people being disrespectful to others. The disrespectful comments seem to come from newcomers who (to be honest) have given very little to this forum. Please don't forget the comments that actually got us this far and have made Roda part of what it is today.

I dont really think it makes any difference whether or not as newcomers have there opinion on disscusions
I have experience on other Spanish forums and I personally think it would be a good idea if people tried to solve problems then highlight them instead of waiting for other people to react ond act on there behalf
Can anyone please advise "are the restaurants near the 525 Hotel open through the Winter months"
Kindest Regards

Is it so clear that it is not a "free for all"?? As I keep repeating - we have PAID for the EXCLUSIVE use of the Beach Club and it does seem to be that it is not now exclusive to Roda owners and their guests. It is not a case of being selfish but of protecting the part of our investment which includes the Beach Club.
It is a nice gesture to be gracious and let others who have paid nothing for the use of the Beach Club to use it but I still say:
If this part of our investment is taken away then our investment is devalued and - we should be compensated in some way.
Sandrab is right. I'm with you Sandrab. Without people like you we would have no one fighting our corner. Thank you.

I totally agree with what people feel regarding "Exclusive use of the Beach Club" but with the developement not even 50% complete yet wont it be empty most of the time and running at a great loss
Once the developemet is complete and then when it is full with Roda Owners I am quite sure that is when it will be used "Exclusively"
Dont you think!

Wangy, I agree with you. Calidona and de Vere have just spent a lot of money on the beach club and I am sure they are anxious for some return on their investment too.
In general I have a problem with a lot of posters here who continually moan and groan but do not speak to calidona. They create a very innaccurate negative image of Roda. Roda will be a five star resort once complete. In the meantime Calidona told me that they are trying to boost income at the beach club for this season only.
I wonder if a some of the negative posters are sponsored by other developers to dissuade investors in the superior Roda??????????

Thank you Barry
Roda Golf Resort is by far the best resort in the Murcia region in my opinion
There is a forum for Los Aqauros resort in Cos Del Sol and they constantly moan and groan on the forum so much that I actually pulled out of buying one there and opted for Roda instead
Everyone should pull together and make Roda even more attractive and inviting
If potential renters are reading this forum it is very off putting
I am sure once the resort is complete we can have resident meetings to iron out any problems once and for all on a majority basis
Anyway just back from 2 weeks in Fuerteventura and got to go back to work tomorrow

I would hope that anyone with a grievance with anything connected to Roda Golf would complain anyway. The fact that some of the complaints find their way to the forum has got to be a good thing. Roda have got to get things right!! If we all walk around with our rose coloured glasses on and our heads in the sand then we are just fooling ourselves. We rent out our apartment and want to be able to say that the whole place is fantastic (eventually it will be) and we also want people to go back home after their holiday and say that Roda golf is the best and recommend it to friends and family. They won’t do that unless Roda get it right, and Roda won’t do anything unless we stick up for ourselves and tell them what we think. The bottom line is any new venture has to be thought out very carefully; service, quality of food and drink, presentation etc must be right. Most businesses run at a loss or break even for the first year or so, and if it means putting on more staff to get the standards up then so be it. And if the staff can’t be found then change the menu, but there is no excuse for the beach club to be serving sub standard food and giving rubbish service. And as it has been open a couple of months now that is plenty of time to get it right especially as its run by De Vere. By the way I wrote to them as well.

New people have got to realise that whichever Resort you choose - and we all know that Roda Golf and Beach Club is fantastic and 'the best' in the area by far (Why? because the people on this forum are quick to react if anything is not quite right) owners have to talk to each other of both the good and potential bad.
We should thank the long standing contributers of this forum because without their perseverence in sorting out potential problems your investment could turn out to be less than you thought.
I have to say that Roda have been very good with any problems that we have raised and have tried their best to sort them out. (NOT THAT THERE HAVE BEEN VERY MANY -THERE HAVEN'T). But people of long standing on this forum are quick to nip things in the bud. That is one good reason why Roda is and will continue to be the best.
I also raise any problems direct with Roda as well as on this forum. I will be over there very soon and I will be raising this question in person.
I can honestly say that it was fate that you chose not to buy on another resort because of their forum. You have made a great decision by choosing Roda - as have we all.
I JUST LOVE IT!!!

Hi Guys
Just returned from 4 days at Roda and it seems to get better by the day
Just a few things to mention
I read in a earlier thread there was movement with cabins at the Hotel site
Well this was a false alarm as there is no sign of anything like that there yet
Can anyone confirm what the 3 explosions are of an evening (is it a farmer chasing something away)
Now to the beach club?
First time there I found it absolutely wonderful BUT! let me say
We ordered our lunch at 12.45
At 1.30 the waitress came over and asked what we had ordered and apoligised as there was a mix up in the kitchen (how annoying)
We had drinks on the house which made us feel a little better (hopefully this is a blip) food arrived 15 mins later
On leaving at about 4pm the whole of the restaurant was full of people who obviously wern`t from Roda
On such a big scale I think this is wrong as the qaulity of service to Roda members obviously suffers
I am starting to think that maybe some of the local Hotels could be sending people to the Beach club as an incentive for there stay (that is a problem)
Apart from that it was a wonderful stay and can`t wait to returm in early October

Hey Wangy, glad you enjoyed your stay at Roda and that you seem to have had a good holiday,
however you seem to speculate that the people at the restaurant were not Roda owners or guests of Roda,
you also then go on to speculate that you think that the local hotels are sending people across to the
beach club to improve the guest numbers at their hotels, yet you provide no proof of either.
Whilst regular updates are greatly appreciated, I simply do not see the point of speculation and scaremongering.
The people at the restaurant might well have been from Roda who simply drove down rather than take the ferry.
It could also have been a private party or company function for owners, staff or family of employees / managers.
My point is, why post negatively? Post only proven facts or positive comments about our resort.
If I was looking to rent a property at Roda Golf and I visited this web forum, I would go elsewhere for my holiday,
you should think about the effect these posts will have on potential holiday makers, you make this very point yourself
in an earlier post you made, just my own personal observations. This message was last edited by marvin3004 on 8/26/2008.

Hi Wangy
I, unlike Marvin, appreciate your very truthful piece on the beach club!!
Marvin asks "how did you know who the users of the restaurant were". I would say the lack of wristbands would give that one away!
I really don't care if a potential renter reads the posts we make on eos. They will understand that we want all the facilities to be the best in the area and don't settle for anything else. We want any potential renters to be happy with the product they have paid for!! If this means truthfulness, then so be it!!

I was at the Beach Club three times when I was down in Roda recently and I never had a wristband given to me or any of my party. I also had invited six friends holidaying in the area to dine with us there on one occasion and five on another visit and we were made more than welcome. There were four of us from my family so we did make a big party in the dining room but there was plenty of room in the dining room on both evenings. There were some people eating on the terrace as well so space was not an issue.
Wangy if you were there you would not have been able to identify me as a Roda owner. I arrived in the afternoons on all three occasions and perhaps the wrist bands were given out before then.
On a very positive note my guests on both occasions who have bought some years ago on other developments are very jealous of the Beach Club facility and the transport system that goes with it. Our golf course is one of the best in the area and the new training and learning facilities are on a par with some of the best in Europe. One friend who was with me at the Beach Club has already put his property on the market and hopes to move into Roda in the next six months.
I came home to wet and miserable England more certain of my good fortune having bought on Roda than ever.
Don
