Thanks - will await further news though we are not out again until Dec probably so wil have to hope we don't get a penalty added on. The town hall did say they usually allowed for part time residents paying when in Spain even if a few months late.

Thanks Jeff,
We tried to organise that but as the bill hadn't been sorted they were unable to do it and said that in the first instance they would allow a little time for the bill to be picked up. Time will tell anyway! What are the penalties incidentally? Is it a percentage of the bill?

I had not paid my first two bills from 2003,2004 because I never received them and about 260 euros became about 330, this was for my townhouse in Manilva.
As soon as you get you first bill pay at the bank and then take that paid bill to the office ( Patronato de Recaudación) next to the police station in Manilva with your Escritura, bank details and your NIE certificate.

Hi,
I am out in DV at the moment and expected to pick up my IBI bill but there is no sign of it in the post. Has anyone else recieved their IBI bill either phase 1 or phase 2. I completed on 1 feb 07 so I guess I am looking at a 2007 and a 2008 bill is this right?
I have also just realised that we have never registered with the town hall as a non redident owner., and i´m not sure if our solicitor did this for us. Is this why I havnt recieved a bill yet? Can anyone help? is this a dificult process and can anyone point me in the right dirction as to how to go about it and what I need to take with me etc.
thanks in advance
Steve

I am not sure if i am registered but what i did was to go along to their office situated next to the police station in Manilva. Just take a water bill to show you own the place and get the invoice of them and pay at the bank.
our IBI bills hve gone up by 50% in 2008.

Hi all!
Just to say that I went to pay the IBI bill on Tuesday morning, before leaving to return to Dubai, and was pleasantly surprised to pay only 428 Euros for 2008! The man who I dealt with was very specific that this was the payment due up to end August 2008. I had nothing to pay for 2007. Surprised, but happy!! Maybe because we completed in February 2007, that may have had something to do with it, as it appears that the IBI is calculated from beginning September to end August annually.
Also, another owner in block 12 went with me and paid her IBI bill and hers was the same at about 425 euros. She completed around April/May 2007, I believe.
Hope this helps!

Jeff, we're also in Phase 2 (block 10) and, although Melissa had one of the girls in AEA's office phone the Manilva authoirty, who said that the bills had been sent out, when we searched through the post at the security office in DV (at the gate) there was no sign of any IBI bills being received. (By the way, Melissa did state that she would be at DV approx. three days a week to replace Natalia at the moment as of this week).
We just went to the office next to the police station in Manilva and they printed out the bills and it was all very straight forward - went to our bank in the port (options of many banks in which to pay) and had them transfer the funds in payment and they give you printed receipt.
We were definitely only charged for 2008 and we completed in February 2007. As mentioned in another thread, maybe it's due to the fact that RyF owned the property as at beginning of 2007 that we did not have to pay for that year.
JC, do you have a three bed apartment? Can't understand why your bill for 2008 was so high. Another owner who went with me to pay, from block 12, also has a two bed apartment, practically identical to ours, and paid five euros less than us (possibly due to the value/square metres, or whatever that is used for the catastral value). It may be your apartment is valued at a much higher rate than ours.
We had heard, from Natalia (who had herself heard from another owner) that the bills were approximately fifty percent higher than last year, but, at lleast for us and another owner I know of, it was pretty reasonable. We expected to pay alot more!

Thanks, I will go to the office I know it well, I get my car tax form there as well.
My house IBI bill was about 280 last year and about 400 this year, the locals are not happy about the increas and some houses in manilva village have a sign 'no subida a la IBI'
Which means 'no to putting up the IBI'

Hi All,
We need to visit the office in Manilva to get our IBI bill when we are out next month, as I am not sure when we will be over to DV again.
Does anyone know the opening times for the office?
We will have such a small window of time to get this done, I don't want to end up going on the wrong day or at the time they are closed!
Any help appreciated.
Regards
Michelle

Thanks everyone for your help on this. I was also only charged for 2008 having completed on 1 feb 07. My IBI was about 450 euros. If you provide your nie number and bank details the office in manilva will also set up a direct debit for next year and give you a form to give to the bank.
