Hi John and Val
Trading our car in was very easy. The company we used were recomended to us by someone we met who have lived on Camposol for 3 years. They bought their car from this company whilst still in England and the company did everything to register their left hand drive and insure it before moving out. We decided that we needed a people carrier so we could get our kids and grand kids about. On Monday we made a telephone call and explained what we wanted and described our english car to him. He phoned back and arranged to meet at Camposol where we were staying on Tuesday to show us the Espace. We discussed business and although the trade in price for our Volvo was not good the price of the Espace compensated very well so the difference we had to pay was acceptable. We gave him a copy of our passport and NIE cert so he could organise insurance and breakdown cover. He delivered the car to us on Thursday evening and took the Volvo just in time for us to drive back to England in the Espace on Friday.
The paperwork is easy with one or two points to be aware of:
You need copies of your passport and NIE cert.
Transferring money may be difficult at short notice.
The insurance certificate we have lasts for 30 days initially but once we get back we will go to the Ayuntamiento and get our "Padron". Once we have this we will contact the car sales company and they will confirm our full insurance cover.
By doing this we saved a lot of travelling to England and back as we have a dog to bring out with us and now don't have to bring the Volvo back.
The company specialise in trading both left and right hand drive cars as they are based on both sides of the chanel.
