Hi
Has anyone who has recently been to Spain any idea of the exchange rate over there, Is it about the same as here? more or less. Going over in October to start the shopping process and wanted to know the best way to pay for goods, is a UK credit card a good idea?
Any advice would be welcome we are very new to all this

Not sure what the rate over there is but we use our Nationwide credit card where we get virtually the same rate as the business rate with no additional charges for using it abroad. Obviously thats assuming you pay it off when your next bill comes in.

I agree with Mike,
Get a Nationwide account. just come back last week. Mid August we got 1.28 on the nationwide card and 1.23 on a Mint card.
we now transfer fund into the natiowide account and just use that for all our purchases.

Is this a nationwide credit card you are talking about or a Nationwide Flex Account Debit Card?

Flex account ideal for getting euros out of ATM , pay for goods as you do here , credit card gives good rate as well and both no commission but do not use credit card for cash.
Get on line access and you can sort all out with one log in , link in e savings as well.
I don't work for Nationwide but was a manager for another building society and used to tell customers to use flex for current account . Although moving to Condado shortly its easy to use flex account in Spain for euros .
