Sky TV

At around 10.30pm most nights the sky tv loses signal. What i find confusing is that BBC1, ITV and 4 lose signal completely but BBC2 continues to work perfectly. Or other channels work whilst most are lost. Does anyone else get the same problems?? Is it always at night? 
I would ask directly when i see you but always forget about the problem the next day. Fresh in my mind now so thought i would post. Desperate housewives starts soon and im a desperate housewife desperate to watch it but once again the channels are down agghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

Funny tho... the XXL channel is never down or so a friend tells me!!! 

can anyone explain the wonders of sky tv??

Is that the same XXL channel you were rather well informed about the last time we spoke!!

Ours went off too last night but not sure which channels were on or off as I just turned it off. Maybe I should just tune into XXL.

I have no idea what XXL channel you are thinking about but im referring to  the medical XXL channel...... Xtra Xrayed Legs. 

No signal again last night. has anyone got the freeview box? is it any good? Considering switching to spanish tv, altho i would go cold turkey without eastenders!!!

Have seen the freeview boxes advertised and its tempting!!!!!

When I was up (being ill) at 3am this morning there were no channels at all. No signal in fact. 

What are we to do?

We had no TV last Saturday evening around 7 until about 10, but must have been lucky the rest of the week as every time we switched it on it worked. Does everyone's go off at the same time ???

However we were getting a really bad signal on BBC1 - the screen kept freezing & jumping. I saw Scott on Saturday when he was setting someone else up & he had noticed it on their TV, but said it was atmospheric. (It wasn't atmospheric to us when we were trying to watch Jonathan Ross & missing half the interview!)

P.S We had friends staying & one of them nearly died when he was scanning through & came across the XXL channel. His comment was we don't get anything like that on our freeview box back home !!!!

Did you reduce your 20euro a month to cover the poor reception. We only have Spanish TV fantastic reception just don't know what they are saying (once bitten twice shy) They are all illegal and they will all have the same end just rip off the Brit's by the Brit's

Its time we all got together to sort this out, I have had the same problem with TV, we have a crap service from Teleast/Torresat, cant get hold of them on the phone, we are paying €20 for what should be a FREE service.

On Polaris World they get a better service for a one off payment, we need people power.

I have emailed them, asking for commpensation for poor or no service last 3 months, giving them 7 days to reply or I will cancel service.

Back in UK now for 7 weeks ONLY.

When I was over at the beginning of September I went over to TeleEast.  This was installed at yet another charge of 190 Euros plus, of course, the direct debit of 20 Euros per month.  So, as you can imagine, I am very disappointed to be picking up messages about the very bad Sky service in SC.  I have people renting my house at the moment and am trying to contact Helder to establish if they have the Sky/TV they require.

We found the previous company fine until they were put out of business - surely someone can sort out this problem.  Perhaps Scott who installed my new service is the man to speak to?  Will try and locate him.  Although we pay a lot more for Sky in the UK it is certainly a very efficient service!

the only legal way to get english channels is directly from the satellite with a large dish. I have a house in torre alcantara and we have made contact with a company for a site visit who install freeview systems - one off payment and all the channels from Astra 2d check out their site  -www.freetvspain.com.

Inmate58 - many thanks for this information.  When I first had my TV/SKY installed at San Cayetano I had an aerial.  Apparently this caused quite a stir on Eye on Spain as I was one of the first with an aerial and, as the Mayor didn't approve, had to have it taken down and go onto the communal system!  Is this their way of making us spend a lot of money for nothing!!!  Will make enquiries about your system but I fear the aerial issue will still apply in SC.

There is a meeting this Friday regarding the pool I intend to bring up the question of the TV system and see why we are forced to use what a contractor states we use

The meet went well

1st the council only past permission to build the sport centre last Thursday so it is now to go for finance and committee stage this will only be the system working through  this could take up to 4months but they have the man power to complete the work in 2 month so the area could be finished by June 09

Taray said they will have the correct plans in place within 15 days and will either call a meeting or post them on the web page and in the office.

 Taray have said there will be two pools, bar restaurant, golf range, tennis courts, but will be fenced pay as you use the facilities Taray will manage the are possibilities of a subscription for the year and so on but like every thing in life the more that use it the better it gets.

Taray did not know of a problem regarding the supply of UK TV on site but when Teresa returns she will look into it and see what which way we would like to proceed, but wen the LFO is in place it will not be 1 committee for the hole site but small division of properties as the only thing a committee will need to look after are the stairwells and car parks n their immediate areas and the people within the sub divisions can set up them selves a dish to provide the TV requirement then divide the cost and running it the service

Is anyone else having trouble with their TV we lost everything Sunday night from about 20.30 till about 08.30 Monday  and now tonight Monday every single channel has gone from 20.00???

peterm - many thanks for letting me know the outcome of the meeting.  Only just picked it up as my computer decided to have a few days rest!!  Are the plans going to be posted on the EOS website or Taray's?  Do you know?  The news is at long last looking good - roll on the time when everything is complete and the whole SC Taray build looks like we expected it to.  Regarding TV I know Helder is aware of the problems we have been experiencing with the TV.  Will ring him later today and see if everything is okay at my quad!!

After reading the letters concerning the sky television, I rang up to enquire what was going on I have not been over since July and I phoned micromesh to ask, I was told that they are prosecuted for tax evasion and fraud and they have now ceased to be.

When I was over in July I had to pay my next years subscription, It was 'nt due until late August but we wouldn't have been there then, and someone called Peter arranged to meet us to collect 195euros for the following year, and gave me a receipt. When I rang the office today she said there was hundreds of people in the same situation, and to report it to the local police then when it comes to court, we may get our money back, problem is we won't be over for some time, what ate others doing about it. Also can anyone tell me who they have gone with now, as we don't know any firms to get in touch with.   

Joan 1 - Micromesh must have been real crooks.  They must have known they were going to be prosecuted because by the end July/beginning August no-one had any television!!  Luckily I paid by monthly charge by direct debit so did not get caught out like you - that is inexcusable.  How long will it take for you all to get your money back??

We went over to TeleEast when I came over in August.  Had to pay another 195 Euros and it is now 20 Euros a month but, as far as I know, everything is working well.  Although I see a lot of people still have problems.  My house is rented out at the moment but I haven't heard from them that the tele has gone down - so keeping my fingers crossed!!

My brother lives on the Costa Blanca near to Guardamar, he lost all his sky tv about 3 months ago because of the tax evasion.   He is now using a company called Torresat and as yet doesn't seem to be having any problems. He told me that this company as been going for 20 years and is all legal. He paid 200 euros for the equipment and then 20 euros a month. With this system  he can't receive any sky channels, sky movies and sky sports etc, he gets all the bbc channels and itv channels ( freeview channels).  He can get movie channels and sports channels but none of these are sky channels or so I'm told which makes it all legal.

Hope this helps in some way and it is all sorted out in the near future.

Hi everybody. The reason that nobody can get any Sky channels in Spain is because Sky only have a licance to broadcast in the UK and not in Spain. These companies that have been ripping us all off have been rebroadcasting the pirated signal from the UK. I have been told that the Spanish government threatened to take legal action against Sky unless they stopped broadcasting the Sky channels across Spain but as it wasn't Sky doing it, Sky have had to take legal action against companies like MicroMesh and shut them down or face prosiction themselves.

The way to get round this is to buy a Slingbox here in the Uk and link it to your digital box here then you can watch all the channels you have here in the Uk in the comfort of your home in Spain. You will need an internet connection though. I used Vodafone and bought a USB Modem for 59 euros and then you buy 1 months unlimited useage for another 59 euros or 3 Gigs for 3 months depending on how much you use the net. It's not the ideal way to watch TV in Spain but it works and doesn't get shut down every 24 hours.
