Hi All,
I posted a few weeks ago asking for recommendations for purchasing garden / patio furniture. We've just got back after a week and I thought i'd share our findings with anyone who is going out shortly to try the same mission.
I'm afraid it's not good news. There is no choice anywhere- and trust me we looked! As with garden centres in this country- Christmas trees and decorations have replaced the garden sections, even in shops such as Carrefour. There are a few patio dining tables about (leroy merlin / bricohouse) but only 1-2 in each shop so if you like them you're lucky - but they tended to be the cheap nasty leftovers! The only sunlongers we found were cheap looking - but rather expensive - white plastic ones in Gines Navarro (and they only had about 4) or very expensive designer ones in Homestyle garden centre (e300 each!), or garden centre next to Gines N. So unfortunately we've come away with none.
We did get an outdoor dining table and 6 chairs in homestyle garden place - managed to get a good deal as Jose (a very helpful man) showed us an ex display one hidden away at the back of the shop with a small chip on the paint that was tiny. Plus they delivered next day for us. There was a few offers on the homestyle aluminium glass top table range (can see on website) in the polaris garden centre next to Mar Menor (on road between AP7 and mar menor). i.e. table and 6 chairs about e370. They're good quality tables so worth a look. We were told that you can only get what is in stock there as they are using up 2008 stock and not replacing - so I guess the later you go there'll be even less choice.
Also if you're looking for covers for your table - the only place we found them was in homestyle garden centre. The blue ones near the garden furniture are only about e11 - 12 (as opposed to some green ones elsewhere in the shop going for e75!!).
So that's about it - we'll have to wait now till spring and see if we can find any companies that do sunloungers online for delivery to condado (as previously mentioned the imminent arrival of a new baby restricts us travelling out again till next summer) So if anyone comes across any good sites or contacts please let us know.
Sorry if this has depressed anyone going out soon - but better you know in advance. Promise me you'd be better spending your time doing something else as it's really not worth the trolling round the shops getting all despondent.
Other than that - enjoyed our break - just sad its' the last for a very long time.

Hi Caroline when we were out a couple of weeks ago we called in D & G Garden Leisure Products in Los Alcazares. It's only a small shop but they have lots of brochures. We bought a rattan glass topped square table and 4 matching chairs to go on our balcony ,( it will also look good inside too when it's too chilly to sit outside) gave us good discount - however they do charge €40 for delivery.
Unfortunately they don't have a website as yet, but apparently it's on their to do list.

Hi Caroline,
Just a line to say me and the wife called into polaris world garden centre just out side la torre.
There was a lot of garden furniture on display to choose from, and we thought the prices were not too bad, some items were on offer!
Good luck,
Malcolm.

Thanks Alison and Simon,
As you didn't write the website name I googled Naura garden centre and came up with an interesting looking website listing all shops and services, i.e. builders, electricians etc in the area of Mazarron and it's in Spanish or English so could be very useful for finding things. (unfortuntately i'm apparently not allowed to put a web address on this site as i've not done at least 10 posts - but perhaps google portaldemazarron and see what you get). It does have a link to the Naura garden centre website under the furniture section. I believe this is the garden centre next door to Gines Navarro - which we visited when we were out there. Seemed a good place just no stock in at the moment. Will have to wait for them to put up their 2009 summer catalogue on the website - but could be a good solution to my problems as only 15 mins from condado.
Thanks again
Caroline

Got our patio furniture from Brico in Los Alcazares. Lots of choice upstairs) compared with others and were willing to bargain. Very pleased with it.
