seems very high to me, I pay 170 euros to cover about 20,000 contents, 3rd party and some building as my community has insurance that covers part building eg common walls etc.
I think 330 must cover full building as well, it not try Zurich I use them and try Abbeygate they are in Monty Duquesa square, they do my car insurance and you can fine them on the net and get a quote online.

Hello, I have just got a house insurance from Reale Seguros through Knights insurance brokers for 110.00 Euros.
Covers building for 120.00 and contents for 11.000 Euros. I have never used them before so never had to make a claim, but they look o.k.

Thank you for your help it is much appreciated, do we need to insure the buliding and the content or just the contents. In the UK the buildings are normally insured as part of teh management charges, Please could somebody advise.

If you have a mortgage you need to ask if they have added an insurance amount into your payments. If you don't have a mortgage you will need building cover over and above that included in any community insurance to bridge the gap.
If you have a Spanish mortgage (mine is with Banco de Andalucia I took the builders mortgage) they insist you have building cover with them when you take the loan out I also asked for contents to be included as well. I think after 1 year you can change to another insurance company.
My DV insurance is about 300 euros per year for building and contents.
My house cover in Manilva is only 170 per year for contents 20k, 3rd party, etc., but the building part is limited to about 6000 euros for aesthetic cover as the main walls are cover by community cover as its a terraced townhouse.
If you want to speak PM me with your home telephone number, I can call these free.

Paul, I've checked out their website - can you tell me where I find the amount to put in for the buildings insurance? Or would that be on our present policy (sorry to sound dumb!!).

I'm in the same situation, trying to work out where/how to renew my insurance policy
I was never told what proportion of the insurance policy - arranged by my spanish bank who I have my mortgage with - was for buildings/contents, and what it actually covered.
Who knows how much buildings cover we actually need, and what is covered elsewhere by the community insurance.
I notice that the building insurance for the whole of DV, in last years budget report was approx 11.000 euros - but what does it cover, and what is left for us to cover.
any help/advice please would be most welcome

Sorry for the delay in replying. I could not get my browser to work with the new site at previous attempts. It seems to be ok now.
With my policy mentioned below you don';t need to worry about how much cover for buildings - they do a min 1,000,000 Euros cover now.
This came into effect automatically when my policy got renewed.
For the contents - which seems to be the cost driver you choose an amount and an excess.

i have just returned from a very hot DV and whilst there i spoke with my bank manager , BofA in the port , and he gave me details of the insurance policy i have , which the bank arranged, with Allianz.
I paid €309 for cover which included €17k for furniture or contents and €132k for building. As Jeff says the structure of the blocks will be covered by the community insurance.
