Sounds a bit like pots and kettle George!! ..but in one respect you are correct  -this is not a football chat forum and we have hijacked an important discussion item, so Phil, Mick, Peter etc. I apologise.

On the TV links am I right in thinking that with what PW have provided there is no option to upgrade and get additional channels, such as Sky Sports (not that I want to get back to football here!) ??  Will that have to wait until sky becomes available?

I agree with George/administration, lets keep it professional, informative and technical, my question is; Can you get M.U.T.V. on these systems, otherwise its not worth having a television at all!

Surely if you can get ITV and BBC on the Polaris system you have MUTV cos  I thought they were all the same thing.

Ptan, where do you reckon you can purchase this standard box for 90 euro?

If anyone knows where please tell us as sure we ould all rather pay 90 euros than 400.

When you say standard box, is that all we need to ask for or anything more complicated, and will we need installation or can we just pug in?

Our Tv bought in Spain has the digi box integrated and we couldnt get anything on it.
 

Sounds like every one is thinking off buying a 80 - 90 € box rather than the 400€ cant blame you for that.

As i mentioned in one off my posts below polaris buy the boxes in bulk, they then change the frequency to match their signal, they recieve all the channels to the satelittes on site feed them through a cabin where they are encrypted then transmitted to each house, the box hen decodes the signal, this was explained to me by the engineer who installed mine.

He may have told porky pies to stop every one buying cheap boxes from elsewhere.....................

................................So whos going to be first to buy a box and try it??

If it works then let me know as i need a second one.

I also explained about the Sky below.

At a Torre originally they could use other boxes but PW cottoned on and coded the signals.

Can anyone who has a sky box at home (and has luggage space!!!!!) please bring it and their viewing card over and try it in the apartment. if this doesnt work then it is one box ticked and we can move forward to the next option.

I really think sport is a requirement not just for football but for any winter renters then the golf will be useful.

I am going to try and bring mine but as i am coming over alone space is at a premium.

To be fair all the chat is rumour and inuendo.

We need to test these options and see what works and what doesnt.

Can someone borrow a €90 euro box and one from another site and test it

Paul, my understanding from this or another thread is that some very experienced and knowledgeable owners have already tried the Sky box and the signal is blocked by PW so I think it went further than chat....

I'm sure your note will prompt someone to respond with more details

If that is the case thats good,  I guess some of the threads get a bit long so i lost this bit so i apologise to whoever sorted that piece out.

Something less in my case to bring over.

I guess this puts more importance on someone getting  €90 box and giving it a go (however I guess that PW could still change the frequency in the future, its just having someone with the tekkie know how to be one step ahead as €400 without decent sport is not on my shopping list.)

Has anyone approached a local sat tv installer to get a stand alone system or is there a problem with dish's (sorry if it has been reported earlier).

Phil Tann (PTAN on forum) is out there at the moment trying all sorts of fancy stuff.  He is extremely well versed in all of this techy stuff.  He is, I understand, trying every option known to man!  He gets back to the UK tomorrow I think so will, no doubt, be updating us then.  I am pretty sure that if he can't get it to work then no-one can. 

I have spoken to an external TV engineer who has been on site and he says there is no signal for Sky on the resort  so boxes will not work.

As i mentioned in an earlie rpost the engineer who installed my 400€box told me that you will be able to use your sky box plugged in to the Sat socket and use your Sky card from home to recieve the package you get at home but not not bbc itv etc for this you need the 400€ box

HOWEVER the sky bit is NOT available yet, it will be free use your own kit but he does not know when it will be ready...........
