Nearest hospital or medical facilities

I am a newcomer to the Forum and was wondering if someone could provide me with details of nearest hospital or doctor as my parents will be visiting our apartment in Jardine 5 in the near future.

Hi there mad golfer, if you want to personal email me I can give you some details of local doctors whom you will be required to pay for or if they are insured they will be able to reclaim, we bring our elderly stroke victim mother out regularly and she often needs doctors but they are excellent, speak good english and are very thorough.

Your parents if over 60 will be entitled to use the medical centre in the town of Mazarron which if they have the new E111 form they can access the facility free, they can also call the emergency ambulance and that is free you will find a list of all emergency numbers in any of the free magazines/newspapers you can pick up at the shops on urbanisation camposol, (i dont know if they have arrived on polaris yet)!

the medical centre does have an interpreter but I think they may need to pay for this service but not sure.

They are over 60 so I will make sure they have their E111 medical card with them.  Do you know if the medical centre in Mazarron is well sign-posted?

yes its on the main road through the town centre and on the right side of the road opposite the citreon/kia garage, parking right infront in the carpark near the entrance to the saturday market.

Does anyone have a medical emergency number for people on Condado? If an accident happened would we phone an ambulance like in UK?

check out the local free newspapers when you are out in spain, they usually have a cut out with emergency numbers on you can keep in the house in a prominent place.  It gives the emergency number, as in uk its 999 they have a number but I cant remember it just now its something like 211 this is exactly as the 999 system and the ambulance service is very efficient as I have used it so I know it works.

Hello

The Mazarron medical centre has moved into temporary accommodation as original centre is being rebuilt.

Temp centre is on the other road through  Mazarron. Take the left fork as soon as you get to Mazarron town. If you reach the shops you have gone too far. The centre is along that road in portacabins, I believe.

There is also a medical centre in Fuente Alamo and a small centre in Las Palas. Is there not a consultario in El Pareton? This would be the nearest..

There is also A&E at La Rosell hospital in Cartagena. This is beside the old Carrefour.

Please be aware that there may be no English speaking staff on duty.
