As I very rarely do the cooking I am not ofey with barbi`s (not the doll)
We dont want a gas one as i`m sure some one mentioned on another thread that they would possibly blow out because of the breeze
But dont know if we should buy here or over there.
Anyone got an idea of prices in the Murcia area please
Thanks
Jan & Ham

On our last visit we bought a big round barbecue at Gines Navarro.Cost around 40 euros. Will be more than big enough if you have family or friends over. They also had a good deal with coals for it.

Head towards Puerto Mazzarron and its a great big store on the LHS with a huge car park that is fully open to the road so no obvious exit/entrance as the whole front is the exit/entrance.
The place pretty much sells everything that your apartment could need (and i mean everything) so worth a stroll round every aisle just to see what they sell

I'll be popping in there in 2 weeks time as well, parasol base, BBQ, sun loungers still required, out from 25th to 29th for a short break on the 9.99 flights, bloody hire car costing more for the 5 days !

Hi All
Just out of interest, with a charcoal BBQ after use, how are the ashes to be disposed of, at home I dig them into the garden?
Also if as suggested the wind would be a problem blowing the flame out on a gas BBQ, what about the hot ashes whilst a charcoal BBQ is in use?
Just a though, are PW providing a Fire Station on Site!

Hi Phil
I did wonder this myself, but didn't want to appear completely stupid, hope they don't put them in the bin next to our apartment, already worrying about that and the bugs and beasties once they start getting filled with fruit remains and sweet wrappers

Hi PGM
Good question
Had not thought about where the ash would go
In Portugal the barbi was one of those large chimney type & the ashes were left to go cold overnight.
Of course the refuse collection was different then. not sure what its like now, but the collection was every day except Sunday& Saints days . ash had to be cold

Brico in Camposol is worth a look, have quite a range. If you want something a bit grander, Leroy Merlin is definately worth a look - definately for the chimney style ones.

Hi Jan,
I think the real point that Phil is trying to make is, what about the live ash, cinders that will blow about in the wind? June

Having looked at the price of bbq's last visit I couldn't believe the cost when they are so much cheaper here. I had thought of taking one from B&Q over with me bit by bit in luggage! Cheapest I saw were at Camposol but then you had to also buy lava rock, gas valve, gas bottle.
So now I've solved the problem of hot ashes, charcoal, where to buy a gas bottle and the rules involved around that.....
Have just got my giant George Forman grill out of the garage and jammed it into a suitcase (only just) he's coming next week for BBQ's on the terrace. Not quite the same but good enough for me.
Let's hope the weathers good.

Hi Ted
Yes, the type you mentioned outside Leyroy Merlin is what we would have liked as they are identival to the one we used in Portugal. However if my mind serves me correctly they were a bit costly.
Hi June
I think I could always say "dont worry my husband is a paramedic." but in reality that is not the answer you should get & you do have a point about sparks.
Something else we will have to concider.
Oh well I surpose we will get there eventually
