98 euros on block 1-i can live with that-now if only sterling was 1.40 when  i bought then it would be £70 .and thats alot cheaper than polaris said at the  time.and even they cant be resposible for gordon brown

I am also much happier with these figures - but, being inquisitive I would like to know how each Garden figure has been calculated - I don't have an issue with the figures, but why can't RPM be completely open and set out the full calculation method - as the La Torre administrators have done.

what a very pleasant surprise - lower fees already and the prospect of them reducing even further - great.

We need though to keep a balance between having a reasonable community charge and ensuring the facilities, gardens, security etc are well maintained/effective in the years to come.

Fully agree Carol, well chuffed with the reduction but wouldn't want to see services suffer as a result, just goes to show what a bit of pressure and organisation can do, hats off to the people involved doing this on our behalf

We have not received any communication whatsoever from RPM despite e mailing them twice, and are getting all information second hand from this forum, (for which we are grateful).

We are in Block 2 Penthouses, so we can only presume that they haven't "got round to us " yet. I hope this is the case. We completed with our solicitor having POA so we didn't sign any forms. We don't want a big bill at the end of the year!!!

Cherrie, I completed in June 2008 on Jardine 13 and I had not received any corespondence, I emailed RPM at general@rpmspain.com about a fortnight ago and they responded within a couple of days, however I was quoted the older higher figures, not these new lower figures.

Am I right in thinking that I can only open a Spanish bank account in Spain? Should I be able to open an account with a provider such as Santander for example from here in the UK?

Which bank would everyone suggest taking the language barrier into consideration?

We use the Halifax too.  We have set up an English and Spanish account as it is free to transfer money to Spain.

We also have a Halifax Visa Electron card which is useful for booking flights with minimal charges if any.

Before anyone gets carried away with these new figures remember that they have to be proposed and accepted by us the owners at the next meeting (May ?) before they can be implimented meanwhile we all have to pay the original sums which i was told will be taken this week?.

Also before we jump and vote the new budget to save money we need to establish what has been cut to obtain this? will security disapear? will gardens be left? we must be very careful.

I have been studying the budgets in depth since the feb meeting and have had many lenghty discussions with Victoria on this.

We dont gain for nothing, provided service reductions are minimal and not catastrophic then perhaps all will be well and we can accept them and pay less.

The main reason the Budget is so high is two fold firstly there are only 3200 owners paying for Condado ( Should have been more like 8,000. Secondly Polaris done a deal with Alhama council in order to get planning consent and for that we pay for outside Gardens roads sewers etc at a cost of 800000€ / year thats 25% of our budget which should be paid by the council.

 We also have to pay the council tax to Alhama in May 150 - 200 €

Any reduction in community charge is good news but not at the detriment of the essential services and Security must be tops.

Thanks for explaining things, I fully agree with all you say. Just wanted to check on one thing. The 800000 euros that Condado residents are paying each year. Is that for ever or is is for a contracted period of time.

Bit sneaky of Polaris to make promisses to Alhama council that we have to fulfill!

As far as i am aware we pay full stop unless the Council agree to pay not much chance of that!

We have petitioned them but have had no reply yet!

Apparently they do pay the electric for the perimeter lights but we pay to replace lamps and to paint them?

sonatigh you mention council tax that is to be paid in May, do we receive a bill? Im not sure if i completed anything with regards to council tax for them to just take the money from my bank account??

To bring this back on track, and cus I thought you might be interested, here's the community fees by garden and the ( reverse engineered ) quota. i.e the % of the infrastructure cost that each garden pays.

Thanks for the update. Am I right in thinking that the quoted prices for the penthouses (approximately £27,949.93) will be split by 36 (I believe there are 9 apartments per floor multiplied by 4) so as a ball park figure these guys are looking at 776.39 Euros per year maintenance. Is this correct or have I completely mis-understood?
