Car Hire - Booking cancelled by Auriga Crown

Having struggled to find something, I now have a booking with FC - not used them before, and they don't have a desk at Alicante airport (meet in the car park - think they said chap standing under the lamppost with the red carnation in his lapel and dodgy watches in his pocket!!), but about 60 Euros less for 5 days - just wanted a small car, as it is just me.

I will report on service etc. when I get back next week - fingers crossed!

My son's problems last week turned out to be through booking via Easycar for Alicante Airport.  He had prepaid for full insurance and had paperwork to prove it but 'Goldstar' would not recognise this and charged him again saying he would have to claim it back from Easycar.

Phil thanks for the plug on 'economy car hire' i have now cancelled my booking with DYS and gone with them, I have chosen Centauro and are only a fraction more expensive than I was paying.

Hi Dan,

Glad you got sorted out.

We haven't been disappointed with them, also if you use them regularly you get other benefits.

We get an extra loyalty discount with all of our bookings and as a "VIP" client get a "return full fuel " policy with all of the rental companies. You still have to pay for the tank of fuel but if you return it full they refund the deducted amount onto your card, so far its been before we have even left the airport.

At last our rental voucher has come through from Do you Spain.

We will be having a Renault Clio 5 door at an awful price of 440.30 euros.

can`t say we had heard of them before but it apears they have a desk inside San Javier airport.

Has anyone else been booked in with them?

Has anyone used them before ? & more to the point  has anyone heard of them ?

I am fairly certain that the Europcar desk is near the exit doors, never used them can only comment that I have never seen a Q at their desk.

How long are you renting  @ 440 Euro?

We have booked a ford focus estate from jul 21 till july 31st for 317 pounds with Atlaschoice, the supplier being Goldcar europa. We found them on the travelsupermarket website.

Not got time to look at my booking from DYS (look at my avatar, too lazy).  As I recall there is no cancellation fee with DYS.  So look elswhere and if happy with new company and price, book with them and cancel DYS............ Simples

It may be simple to do what you suggest but it is also hugely expensive.

I have my August booking with Auriga Crown / DoyouSpain at a price of €269 for 3 weeks. The same dates & car are in excess of €650 now.

Far more important that Auriga Crown / DoyouSpain honour the original booking.

Coulden't agree more.  But some people on here are going to have to decide on cost v peace of mind.  I have just come off the phone to DyS.  This is what I was told.  "Only last week we were informed of 200 cancellations by Auriga Crown.  We then sent emails to those customers whose names Auriga Crown sent us, to say the booking had been cancelled.  We then moved those customers to other car hire companies.  Some people have to accept that they may no longer get their first choice of car.  To the customers whose names we have been thus far informed of being cancelled by Auriga Crown, we will refund any difference in the cost of car hire".

Now I have personally looked at my costings.  Booked Ford Focus sized car on 1st Jan from Friday 24th July - Sat 8th August. Cost then 266.40 Euros.  Same car now 485 Euro's.  However I'm one of the lucky(!) ones, as DYS have my booking with Record?   Has anybody heard of them/had any dealings with them.

Phil - I am using them this weekend, so keeping my fingers crossed.  Car selection isn't great, I have a Kia Picanto (but it is just for me, so small car is fine), they also show Hyundai and Fiats on their list.  Also they don't have a desk, they are set up in the car park.  I am aware of someone who has used them, and was happy, but I will be able to report back next week.

Their price was very good for this weekend, but I also checked for October and DYS were cheaper, so guess you always need to shop around rather than just look in one place.

Thanks Ted, the feedback would be useful. We have booked for the beginning of July with DYS and am paying about 160euros through Goldcar. The only reason for looking at fcrentacar is because they are about 60euros cheaper.

Have just checked the fcrentacar  website - and they operate out of a van in the carpark at St Javier - think I have seen it before.  Interestingly, they also have an office in Camposol - might be useful if there are any issues during the rental!

I am going out this weekend (20th) and have booked via doyouspain with Auriga and my husband has also booked the following week.  I have been trying for the last two days to get a reply from doyouspain and I am still waiting even though their policy stated on their website says they are a 24 hr service and reply on the same day !!!!   Has anyone else been having trouble getting a reply from doyouspain???

Yes Jackie, they are not replying to me, I have emailed them and cancelled now but still no reply, oh well the don't have my card details so can poke it and I wont be using them again!

I emailed DYS yesterday asking for an explanation and assurance I will have a car when I arrive. No contact back so far, so I am looking at alternatives in case.
