IBI TAX

Having picked up a thread on another forum (traiter I hear you call) I have called the Oficina de Recaudacion in Alama concerning the IBI tax.

My total bill is E92.58 split 50/50 between my brother and I as joint owners (3 bed on Los Naranjos.)

Through some language barriers I understood this was up to July 6th and that if not paid by then fines could be charged, although translation between us was touch and go.

What I did get was confirmation that I could pay by bank transfer to acc 2043 0031 41 2081000010 and should state my name and refer to IBI tax in the reference.

The phone number for the Oficina de Recaudacion is 0034 968 636 780.

I also asked for a direct debit form to be sent to me however have yet to receive that - again, may of been lost in translation!

We were onsite at the weekend and had our tax bills in our letter box, one for me and another for my husband 39.71 Euros each for a 2 bedroomed apartment on Jardin 5.  I have spoken to my bank, the Halifax and they have advised if we complete the top of the bill with our bank details and fax it to the number also on the form, that will ensure payment is made by direct debit for this payment and future payments.

Just need to work out which box for what now, as not too good at Spanish!

According to my solicitor,we have to got to Alhama with a copy of our deeds to make this payment! I must say Lindsey's way of paying seem to be the best!

 Alhama Council Tax office gave me the form for those non residents who wanted to set up payment

These are the relevant three sections of the form for IBI.

Top: Direct debit

Middle: Paying in slip

Bottom: Invoice

dont know if this affects anyone else, but we have a bank account with caja murcia, and they took these payments approx 1 month after signing for the mortgage, (just checked my statements) so before you all run off down the town hall, go and have a look at your statements or have a word with your bank, as they may have already set up a DD.  if you were like me in that notary, you just wanted to be out, i would have signed for a murder, we also signed a lot of other DDs so waiting with baited breath for other debits.

Hi, I think the non resident tax that we all pay when we open a Spanish bank account isn't the same as the property tax which needs to be paid to Alhama Council. Here's a website that I just discovered I had bookmarked ages ago.

 i will have a look again,but i still think we set up a DD for this? like i say, wasnt quite sure what we did?

That takes me back when I put that on so many months ago. Income tax non resident is tax on income you are deemed to have earned because its not your main place of resident.

Great News!! I've just phoned a very helpful lady called Rocio (who speaks perfect English) on 968 636 780 full expecting to have to make a payment before 6th July. However, she told me that because we completed this year that PW have to pay this year and we don't pay anything until next year!! Yippee!! What with that and the exchange rate improving, even more money to spend in the Clover!!

Got our bill in our mail box on Monday. Nipped down to CAM bank at Camposol. Paid bill in 5 mins flat and set up DD for next year. Dead easy (although helps if you happen to be in CDA admittedly).
