We did the drive in March
P & O both ways and it cost £227 each way for two of us and an inside cabin
Then drove to Huercal Overa which is a bit further than Condado-601 miles
Tolls circa 37 € each way
Stayed at Ibis Hotel at Mostoles Madrid cost 54€ for a room
4 hours to Madrid and 4 ½ hours to Huercal Overa on very good roads mainly quiet at a steady 80 mph or so
Due to the storms in the Bay of Biscay the P & O ship took a detour to avoid it and so we arrived 8 hours later than schedule
So if it arrives normal time there is no problem doing the drive in a day
Price of course increases as the year progresses and current quotes for May are circa £319 on the way out and £271 back with Brittany Ferries
Mid summer is circa £1000+ for a car and two people
Overall we found it a good journey and for longer stays worth doing off peak times
Made one mistake though!
On the way over the car was full with goods for the new villa on the way back forgot to fill it up with wine!!!
Won’t make the same mistake again- found some very good Rioja at 1.71 € and Cava at about the same price and just as good as Tesco’s !!
You can get all details from P & O / Brittany Ferry web site and a route from Google directions, which is very good and easy to follow
We did not buy the food tickets and found it quite reasonable to eat on board- many take their own food and drink with them
