Hi To All on AG,
I have just returned from AG, i was there from 25th April to 5th May,quite a bit to report which i detail below.
1.The golf course/ 9 holes are now open and people playing, also driving range and putting area open, although i did not notice anyone there. You should all have had and e:mail from from intercala re golf course charges and rules of play etc, but i detail them anyway
2.Cost to play 9 holes 10 euros ,no mention of cost for 18 holes when all holes open
3.Before they let you play you must provide a handicap certificate,if you dont they wont let you play,up to 3 guests can play with the ownner at 10 euros,if you rent then 4 people can play 10 euros ,but they all must have a handicap certificate.there is a list of all owners in the temporaryt clubhouse.
4.Clubhouse,they are now well on with the clubhouse, and you may be quite surprised it is,i think it is plenty big enough, when i left they were tiling, plastering, painting, men doing wrought iron work, electricians ,etc, etc,i am out again on the 23rd of may so i am expecting big things.
5.Tennis courts/paddle courts are being constructed everywere and whe complete looking at all the bases etc i would estimate 4/5 tennis courts and 3/4 paddle courts.
6.Tropoical garden, plenty of money has been spent here ,outside gym, childrens park and beautifull plants, the only problem if someone does not get a griop the facility could be ruined before it officialy opens ( i was told by Cajasur ) that the hop to open clubhouse/alss facilities July 2011.
7.As you can imagine lots of mess about due to constuction, but still a major problem with dog dirt, rubbishish etc,
8 On a possitive note things are looking up,the only problem for the owners who purchsed say 6 years ago are suffering as Cajasur who own the developement are now selling apartments on phase 4 at 135,00 euros and selling plenty as 100% mortgages and very low interest,
9.Anyway i will make another post in the next few days with more news and pictures from my last visit.

Hi,
All of my photos from my mid april visit to ag are now on this site, unfortunately when i was there at the end of may i did not get chance to take any most recent ones ,but i can assure you that things are far more advanced, when i left clubhouse was well on ,most of the windows installed, all brickwork rendered and painted, kitchen appriances and fridges etc being installed, lots of wrought iron work complete. The paddle courts on phase 3 and 4 were almost complete with courts in place, lots of work at rear of phase 2,re tennis courts, for those of you who dont know the current construction company are installing 3 paddle courts and 2 tennis courts.I am due out end of of June /early july,so i shall put all pics on site 2nd week in july ,i am sure we will see a massive difference.

I've just returned (29th May) from a 10 day break and whilst some progress has been made I'm afraid I just don't see the same level of completeness as Samste. Granted the tennis court frames are completed and the clubhouse is receiving some attention but to me these appeared superficial at best. Unless a lot has been achieved in the 3 days since I left I just didn't have the same impression. I didn't see anybody playing golf and the holes don't really look playable to me. I'd be interested to know where the ticket office is. It's a bare faced cheek thought that we were promised 'free golf for life' and now we have to pay several Euro's for the privilege. The flyer posted through my letterbox had prices lower than those quoted for owners I believe.
The area is definitely on the up however though it needs more bars/restaurants. I see the equestrian centre are constructing/refurbishing a derelict restaurant (on the opposite side to Arenal Golf - you can see it on the road from the Xanit roundabout down to the Torrequebrada golf course).
One thing that was obvious to me on this visit was just how busy the resort is. Bars and restaurants were packed. Seemed as busy as some of the recent summer periods which is good news for the local economy. Read some stats that April was 27% up on the previous year. I'd expect May to be massively up on that figure.
btw, the weather was superb - upper 20's and unbroken sunshine for all but one day of our stay. Magnificent.

Hi Samste.
Follow these instructions to access your photos.
Go to you EOS community page and scroll down to the latest thread box.
Click on " Arenal golf phase 2,3,4,& 5 " on the left hand side of the box and a new page will open.
Scroll down to the box with the title " whats new today at Arenal Golf "
Under that heading there are a row of tabs and the photo tab is second from the left.
Nice pics by the way.

I've been out in Arenal Golf in March and April nearly 4 weeks in total between both visits and have observed the tennis/paddle courts been laid and indeed the work on the club house as I come from a technical/construction backround and also play tennis I can assure you the courts laid are up to international standard and not SUPERFICIAL AT BEST according to your amateur view, the work on the club house again is to a resonable standard with air condition ducts, voice, data and power wiring being installed as it should be I look forward to the finished product.I too had my doubts on the golf course late last year but having walked on the course in march and April it is very playable and the greens are in good shape and I've seen plenty of people playing golf on it from our terrace. So I certainly don't have the same impressions as you and I'm sure I'm not the only one!

Hi All,
It is a shame that i could only post pictures of my April 2011 visit ,because on my visit 23 to 30th of may things had definately progressed ,re the golf ,i played with my eldest son ,the 9 holes on phase 4 and the 3 holes on phase 3,the phase phase 3 greens were immaculate ,the phase 4 greens had ,had a some sort of sand dressing on ,but were playable, the sand dressing does make the green look bad,but i look out over all 3 holes on phase 3 and witnessed the sand dressing on them ,but it was only a matter of days before they looked realy good again,i can appreciate were certain people are coming from, but i personnaly feel Cajasur are realy trying to do a first class job,i am out end of june for 11 days so i will post pics early july,I to am from a construction background and i agree that there is plenty of work going on inside and outside of the clubhouse, and plenty of work going on re tennis and paddle courts ,along with walkways and fencing being carried out all over the place.

Just returned from another trip out there so whilst I have no meaningful photo's thought I'd provide an update.
What a difference a couple of weeks makes! Didn't bother hiring a car this time around which was a bit of a mistake as the temperature was in the 30's and it's a fair walk from Mercadona to Phase 1 with bags of heavy shopping but there you go. Incidentally, and just my luck, I found a route through the hospital car park from Phase 1 to the roundabout of Benalmadena Golf which completely cuts the petrol station corner and is pretty flat. Anyhow, on foot I got to see a lot more this time around.
The padel courts and actual full size tennis court (near the clubhouse) are virtually complete. The tennis court looks fantastic, though I wouldn't want to own an apartment right next to it! Having said that I couldn't see floodlights so that's a bonus for those owners.
The clubhouse really is taking shape and there are lots of workers on with it. Not sure whether they'll get it finished before the August break though. Hopefully they will. I'll probably become a regular of that place relaying tails of my near hole in ones over a G&T ;-)
Saw a couple playing golf on the course on Phase 3/4 where all the water is. The greens look to be in superb condition now and the water course is very nice, especially for the family of ducks that are resident there. Couldn't work out what percentage of the course was playable or where the temporary 'pro shop' was. Let's be honest though, the holes look to be nothing more than a test of your lob wedge game - i.e. very short holes but I'd love to see a scorecard with distances, etc. I know the holes to the rear of the clubhouse looked a bit longer with barranca's but couldn't access them this time around.
Driving range is fenced off but sprinkler system was keeping the adjacent putting practice area in good condition. The park is still being worked on but is also fenced off.
The other phases, in particular phase 2 are now maturing and look very classy. Hopefully this will continue to the remaining phases.
All in all I feel very positive about the whole development for a change and feel that in years to come we'll all be very proud. We just need a few more facilities in the general area - quality bars, restaurants, etc. Any astute businss person must surely look to the south of the complex and the often overlooked road that leads to the coastal road. Ripe for development.
Anybody know where this padel tennis club is going to be built and what exactly is being constructed on the large area of wasteland between Phase 4 and the equestrian centre?

Hi All,
The temporary place( porto cabin ) were you pay your monies for the golf is on the roundabout next to the entrance to phase 4 golf, the course if you didnt know the course is called BIL BIL Campo Golf, there are score cards ,i have some in front of me which i picked up a few weeks ago, obviously you are correct some holes are very short and if you dont fancy a lob wedge you could actually put your way round some of the holes .I am out 27th june till 8th july ,( dont normally go this time of year as it is to hot but giving it a go as i want to monitor progress),i will be taking photos ,so look out for them mid july,i know what you mean about the weather my sons are there at the moment and they are cooking.
Take care

Hi Oliverson,
Glad you found yourself the shortcut through the hospital carpark, you can also go around the front of the Xanit hospital then up past the service area. Its just about the same distance as cutting through the car park. As for carrying heavy bags treat yourself to a "Grannie Trolley" you will pick on up in Arroyo for around 12 Euro worth every cent as you can lob all the heavy drinks in it. Another option is to check the bus timetable for the L2 outside the Mercadona and get the bus back to the enterance to Phase 1 then its just a wee walk doon the hill.

Well it was an experience but I'll continue to rent cars in future (anybody know of a company who doesn't screw you on the full/empty fuel tank scam?). The problem on foot is you have to really plan your day. A walk to the pueblo is well over 1.5 miles and uphill. I was wringing my shirt out at the petrol station and that was after 17:00!!!! I'm also quite fit (physically). One day I walked from the pueblo to the Marina. Granted it is several miles buy it took 1 hour 45. A walk to the beach (sunset beach hotel) took over 30 minutes. A car really is a necessity I feel.

Re Shortcut through the Xanit service area
Have used this short cut many times as we found it to be the shortest route, but be warned, we came through there late one night only to witness a room brightly lit with no blinds where there were a number of people all dressed in theatre greens performing surgery on some poor soul!!!
