Visited Corvera at the weekend and airport is progressing - lots of levelling going on (much more than last visit in Aug) - runway, access roads and possibly car parking areas. Heard from some people that they are working consecutive 12 hour shifts. On a nice day, its definately walkable with a rucsac !

Hi Anita,
Great news!
I know we are ALL frustrated by the lack of delivery on some of Calidona's promises, and in particular the lack of progress on immediate much-needed facilities like the Clubhouse BUT it is great to see news items like this appearing.
As I have said before, some of Calidona/ Corvera's problems were not of their own making, but they are not without some blame to be sure. The global credit crunch has hit nearly all countries and property markets across the world, here in Ireland we are probably the worst hit with a probable 8-10 year property overhang, a deepening credit crisis, nationalised (and deeply indebted) banks, over 450K people unemployed, a dithering and seemingly inept government but not much talent in the opposition benches either - and in the midst of the mother of all recessions. Plus our soccer team are playing crap at the moment! Reasons to be cheerful anyone?
Back to Corvera, sorry! The airport is late but is coming good, the new roads around the airport are taking shape if not almost complete, the alleged F1 racetrack is probably a myth(?), Paramount is still unconfirmed but looks much more likely of late, and now it looks like we have a high-speed rail link to bring people into the area!
Yes, I am one of the Corvera optimists I suppose, I reckon you have to be - though you do need to rein in your expectations and keep hold of a bit of healthy cynicism (a necessity when dealing with some of the Spanish ways of doing things - or NOT doing things maybe!).
I'll probably get some stick for this message but here goes...
Regards and best of luck to all,
Ian

Abit sceptical about a High Speed Rail link to an airport. Abit like coals to Newcastle. If you want a quick link to Madrid, fly, dont go to an airport to get on a train. To my knowledge, one of the busiest Airports in the world (Heathrow) and the majority of others dont have a High Speed Link.

Hey Moll,
I think most of us received the e-mail from Corvera. I took it as a great step forward as to my knowledge, it's the first time there has been a resort promotional e-mail from source and not speculation?
Most of the pictures enclosed in the e-mail were 'stock' promotional ones from the airport itself and not so many on actual progress.
However, lets hope this is the first of many e-mails, direct from Calidona, keeping us all up-to-date of local progress.
Best regards,
Paul
