This week we are due to exchange contracts and buy our little piece of Spanish heaven on CDA. We are well aware we have had a total bargain due to the situation there but at the time of reserving our property the clubhouse was going ahead in Sept etc.
Now that looks highly unlikely and we're a bit nervous. Not so much about what it can offer now or in the next 5 yrs or so, but in the longer term. With no clubhouse we are thinking Olagolf might pull out when their time is up and will anyone else take it on? We're worried I guess that CDa will just end up falling into disrepair etc and we're all left with properties that are totally unsaleable.
If you could get out now, bearing among what a bargain we're getting what would you do?

Have a look at the thread - Paramount-Again! - for some positve news
There's no guarantee its going to be by us (or that it will definitely happen) but it seems to be a good chance for Murcia and a possibility to be in our backyard.
On the golf side I don't think they'd let the course go....too much time and money gone into it and it has had great reviews in such a short time.

I'm on the cusp of a similar decision as I've been offered a deal by my ex inlaws who share ownership of my apartment and I'm due to start a lot of travelling in my work. However, even before today's new's I was doubting my decision althpough for me on a personal level it makes sense. But, I have come to really like CdA and I'm not at at all concerned CdA will fall into disrepair, why would it as the community run it? As for Olagolf -they apparently have a 15 year lease and an awful lot can happen in 15 years including a clubhouse- which I suspect is merely delayed because PW own the land on which Olagolf wanted the clubhouse. Its sounds as if Murcia will get a leisure park branded by Paramount and where ever it is I suspect it will close enough to CdA to make a difference to rentals.
You must buy because you want an apartment in this area- it's not a time to buy in the hope of making wads of cash. Properties on other resorts are generally more expensive than at CdA because they have more facuilities but there are no gaurentee's these facilities will stay open in the present climate. Even when this leisure park get's the go ahead it will take years to build so its not going to mean instant improvement. Therefore you must buy because you like CdA

Property owners in Murcia will find that their properties could become more valuable overnight. A bank representative on Condado De Alhama informed us that today following the news release from Paramount, they sold 2 properties. This is just the beginning of the turn around in Murcia and at Condado.

We have had an apartment on Condado since July 2008 and enjoyed lots of holidays there and 9 months ago bought a second propertry to rent out.
You will find several people on EOS who constantly whinge about Polaris World and the resort (why don't they sell up) , but even PW could not have forecast the economic crisis we have had in the past couple of years and halted development. We bought originaly because nowhere else in Spain could we buy a similar property for such a low price and live in such a nice enviroment, and have never regreted it.
Despite the lack of facilities we and everyone who has stayed at our apartments including many young people have had a great time. The children we take to the apartment have met many friends who they keep in contact with in the UK, and many of the adults have actually enjoyed it because there is not a lot on site as it has enabled them to chill out for a week or two away from their busy day to day lives.
Should the Paramount development take place it will only be a bonus to an already great place to stay and live.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to reply.
We're doing it. We absolutely love CDA, the openness of it, the apartments etc. So what the hell. Let's have many years of happy holidays with our young family.
See you all soon.

We have purchased an apartment on Condado and really loved the place, but if we were purchasing now we would most definitely have a complete survey carried out by an independent party before parting with our money. Since the heavy rainfall in January we have experience severe damp inside our apartment.
We have paid to try and rectify this, but unfortunately it only solved part of th problem. A surveyor has informed us it is the substandard building and finish of the actual block. Since January we have been trying to get Polaris World to sort the problems out, we have engaged our Spanish Solicitor, surveyor and insurance investigator, but Polaris World are not at all interested. So please make sure the construction of your dream home is 100% before finalising your purchase.

Hi Fickly Fairy,
In addition to what Sat1 recommends it is worth posting details on your area/block and floor to canvas opinion on if people have had issues or also try and contact the presidents/Milenium. Sorry I don't have their contacts to hand.
We never knew/worried about these things at the time but when we signed up we had an external company do the snagging. They did state at the time some blocks were better built than others as different teams worked on each. With the benefit of time and some very heavy rains you are in a better position to know if issues exist. Don;t wish to unsettle you but seems preferable to what other people are experiencing in trying to fix.
Knowing off potential issues in the block you bought into will at least forwarn you and perphaps put you in a better position when dealing with Polaris. You may feel Polaris will railroad you into getting out there to sign but we managed to delay a couple of months as couldn't get leave from work. If you haven't booked up and someone flags an issue in an adjacent apartment then at least you have some time.
Overall, we love CdA.
Best Wishes.
