A bit personal Georgeh,
I thought we were all entitled to our opinions. I am disappointed with the facilities or lack of, at Condado, but you wont hear me moaning. The fact that Polaris left us high and dry is bad enough without being raped and pillaged by others wishing to relieve us of more cash in return for more broken promises in a get rich scheme. With regard to me mentioning those words in your ears I think you are quite safe, I tend not to associate with narrow minded inconsiderate people. I have stated my opinion based on a wealth of experience in this field, it's out there for all to accept or reject, no need for a personal attack on someone you haven't even met. Show a little tolerance, some times we have to suffer fools as I have done on this occasion.

That was a little personal, but judging by the grammer, maybe Georgeh has been drinking.
You are free to have any opinion on this forum, but if its not positive, personal attacks are to be expected!

For me, whether I am using my apartment or not at the moment, the issue is only that if we can all afford to pay 10 euro's per month to fund a group to buy the Sports Zone, why dont we buy it as a community asset?
The concern is that there's not enough potential custom for the community to get into a deal like that and it could lead us into Bankruptcy- La Torre had real financial issues not so long back that almost took them to the brink of Bankruptcy.
But if we pay to fund a group to buy and run it or even rent it, and they get into financial problems then maybe we'll have to increase our payments to keep it afloat and they wont feel the financial struggle, we will. Then we will never own the zone but they could still benefit majorily if they can sell up. The community would be tied ito a 5 year contract with the 1st proposal and I think thats a dangerous proposal. But, there are few deals on the table.
People may well be trying to 'improve our resort' which is fantastic and has got people thinking, but I doubt they are doing it just for the glory.

I have stated concern on this issue in previous posts, not for the sake of causing disharmony, more out of concern for what the community may be getting itself into. I agree our facilities are lacking but this doesn't justify a knee jerk reaction. The Quiet Man makes similar points of concern. I can assure you that to open the bar and sports centre as a stand alone project is not a viable proposition. If I am wrong where is the queue of entrepreneurs fighting for their share in this golden opportunity willing to invest their own cash. They are very noticeable by their absence.

I think the idea is a non starter, if you took a vote now i guess less than 50% will go for it.
The community should not be liable for anything other than maintaining, certainly not investing with potential ongoing liabilities for years to come.
I'm with the non starters. I don't see any entrepreneurs risking all their money, I see chancers risking all of ours - for their benifit be it employment or profit. Sorry if this sounds a bit harsh but if you want to invest then all those wanting to invest should all get together and invest with like minded people. Those like me will pay if we want to use the facility.

Not harsh atoll Daniels, pretty succinct in my opinion. There is so much risk and danger associated with a venture of this magnitude and as you correctly point out it is not the responsibility of the community to invest residents money and future in such a house of cards. Well done for stating your case, I'm sure it is well meant and as I've stated, in my opinion, fairly accurate.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ .........!!!!!
2 euros a month and they are putting in their own hard earned cash and giving 20% back to the comunity from their takings
Great idea got my support....... all day long
10 euros a month and we pay for someone else to purchase and benefit from that purchase
No chance a non starter with too many unanswered questions not got my support
For gods sake get a grip on reality, Polaris have bailed and left us with it, what are we going to do let it all go to rack and ruin like the bloody football pitches or do we, the community sort it out for the good of all???
We have made the effort with one of the football pitches which lets be honest get one of the gardeners on their sit on mowers and a couple of hours later - SORTED Only need the other two sorting now, I will do it myself if they lend me their mower and I hate bloody football !!
Those that have seen my 'rotund' figure know that I don't do sports either but would love to see it open officially and maintained properly. A lovely bar/coffee shop would be my wish and 2 euros a month.... come on guys you have lost that much down the back of the sofa everytime you come home from the pub and fall asleep on it (well that 's where I go for change when I need it!!) lol
Rant over-ish!!!

Hi Smivs
We agree with you.
We pay out more than that each month on the dam lottery & we have less chance of winning a tenner let alone the big one
So we will happily pay our 2 euros a month.
Like you I do not indulge in sporting activities now, too old. Done it ,seen it & have got the cap, badge & T. shirts to prove it too.
Ham likes a good game of tennis now & again but only used the court once when it was legally open so [probably would not use it again but seeing it all open again has got to be the poitive way for Condado to go forward.

I think it would be nice to be own outright as a comunity investment. If someone can make the business work great I don't even mind them making a profit if they provide facilities at a resonable price.
However, at 1.6m it looks too pricey and a bad investment for the community even if you got permission to flatten the area to build a string of apartments. This is just banks being greedy the same way they priced CDA2. So glad Paramount went up the road if it reduced costs and improved chances of being financed.
Anything to give us more facilities (assume Polaris are still required to provide a pub/supermarket) is much appreciated.

still running this thread - reading through the funny and the clever and not so clever comments along with snide remarks.
all part of the debate i suppose
simpsons comments got me though, do nothing has got to be the worst thing we can do.
by the way entrepreneures dont get rich using their own money.
if the fear is, somene will make a few euros for making a successful business from the sports zone is preventing our support then thats a shame. This urbanisation needs some useful facilities to use and promote the place to potential investers.
The loosers will be the people who own properties here.
do nothing and resist and prevent the redevelopement of the sports zone then we again lose.
We have choices each and everyone of us so think carefully for what you ask for as yo may well get it.
If our urbanisation is to become a resort it will require facilities - don't wait for Polaris they are gone for good
my opinion of course - glass is getting empty

Like Fozzer I am amazed that this thread still has legs. I have resisted up till now contributing because some of the snide and rediculous comments really detract from the original proposal back on Page 7 of this thread - worth re reading as the original sentiment gets lost.
The proposal is sound and for a 5 year period makes complete sense. It will tie in nicely with Paramount if that gets going later this year!
Bottom line and I am aiming this comment at those who do like to take the p**s a bit (although some of it is really amusing). Every owner of a property on CDA should consider themselves either a share holder or even a company director of a big business. We all have an interest in the continued development and promotion of the resort - however that can be achieved. We need to attract more customers and investors to get the services we all want.
So why do some people think it is a good thing to make really unhelpful comments on a public forum that would turn away potential investors and customers should they read them. Ask yourself the question -would you buy a property or open a business if you thought some of your neighbours or customers could conduct themselves in this way?
So to those people - wise up. Start promoting our business. Make sensible and supportive comments and don't do anything that will stop further investment - including Polaris if they still have an interest. If the President of Polaris can read english he will be having a chuckle to himself at times.
In relation to the football pitches and the Manzano bar and facilities - all we need is the grass to be cut and the current owners of the property to tidy them and keep them that way for now - as they look a mess. If someone wants to start running them as a business then great - give them support as it won't be easy.

444 we cant look after what we got , also i think any director would of run for the hills along time ago
so may be you need to have a go at ML or the presidents and not the owners that are also pissed off

Paddy, you've just proved my point - never mind. No good having a go at Millenium Levante as they are doing a good job for the areas they are resposible for. The Presidents are all volunteers and probably have limited say on what goes on at corporate level.
AGM coming up, some new volunteer Presidents may make a difference so each area / Jardine / block of the resort is represented by the type of people who care and can comunicate well. But again I say - no good making negative and snide comments on the forums that exist as that is totally counter productive.

Thank goodness Jon, you have hit the nail on the head
I work for a very sucsessfull marketing group that still continus to grow.
The aim of the company is to help & assist small companies to keep their heads above water & increase their footfall
The comments on this thread are read by those people we, as owners need in order to ensure the growth of Condado
There are 20 different ways a company can increase the money going in to their business & negativity is not one & neither are the "lets slag Polaris" comments .
I know that it is a very worring time @ the moment
My business almost closed during the last recession & I worked for 6 days for almost three years before I gave myself a wage again.
This current financial crash was NOT the fault of Polaris. GET THAT INTO YOUR HEADS.
I wonder how many of you moaners actually lent money from the very greedy banks that have caused this current recession?
If you cannot find something useful to say & I too have concerns please keep them to your selves.
If in 5 years time Condado is still the same with no progress then we will all have a case to moan but how many of us will point the finger, not at Polaris but to those of you who have continually grumbled saying that you were the ones who `s comments drove prospective buyers away,
Look at other threads through out Spain & you will see that we are far luckier than many , half built sites with no facilities at all , No proper roads no completed street lighting, sewage running down the streets.
In comparison we are very lucky to have what we have.
No one saw this reccesion coming, Not me, not you & not Polaris.
And for those of you that have concerns about my spelling. There no spell check on EOS & though I am brilliant in 101 things, spelling aint one of them .
