Yes Neil, I feel its something worth fighting for, we need facilities and I feel this is a small price to pay.

Mick, I can fully understand that the banks and the Spanish people may vote against it, but La Isla (which I think has a few bank owned properties) & La Torre both managed to get this facility, so there is hope for us yet!

If people have internet, people can work from Condado, meaning people will visit more and spend longer at their apartment which will help make the place more sucessful!!

gosh steady Darren are you being positive?????  you might get a nose bleed as your body won't recognise the positivity oozing from you!!!   lol

It will come down to whether people can be bothered to register their proxy votes if they can't attend and it didn't help that ML asked people to give their proxy to Presidents that don't do anything and are not interested in doing anything so votes will be wasted.....

I never thought I would be in agreement with you but hey ho you just never know!!  I'm all for this one and have sorted out my proxy votes.  One can live in hope

Didnt get passed!

Think ML were scared of giving us any facilities, may have made the place more fun, or at least bearable.

I feel your frustration! Lost Island and La Torre both got it... Both have a different management group. Think the Island also got a clubhouse, for their own use.

Never mind buying on the wrong resort, I bought on the wrong part of the wrong resort.

Doesnt look like there is anything that can be done about it either!

I now see that Hacienda Riquelme have signed up with A2Z for the 2Mb internet deal.  Strange how it only seems to require a unanimous vote at Condado?

Does anyone know how many votes were for and against the internet option ?

I was told that we would have phone lines in to contact other apartments and we dont even have that ?

Due to the ammount of time I spend in condado I do not want to sign up to a additional monthly cost, However the 2 euros quotes seems like a no brainer to me !!!

People probably pay more a year when they go to the shop and use the computer !!

Can this not be put forward again in the summer when everyone/most people will be present on the resort ?

Another thing is that I tried to contact my garden president to register a vote but did not even bother getting back in touch and I wait weeks before ML respond to a email.

I live and hope that everything will develop on the resort as this would have been a massive step in the right direction.

I  understood we only required a unanimous vote because we were going to raise the community fees?  Is that wrong?

Otherwise how did the other option pass because it wouldn't have had 100% support...my understanding was it was a change from what was being originally provided.

I find the argument that no extra cost should be incurred and that if you want broadband you pay for it yourself a bit shortsighted.  We don't have a TV but our fees go to provide TV for the apartments.  Some people might not swim, or have kids who use playgrounds etc.  Its a bit of give and take.  We will not get anything new on CdA if they isolate the proposals like this (as an increase in fees) as the banks will vote against them.

Is the €250k sports centre going to be proposed as a specific increase in community fees?  What happens when gardening costs go up or we need an overhaul of the trees etc.

I find the whole thing slightly confusing when it shouldn't be.  If we are asked about something we should be told the possible options and what is required to succeed in getting that option.  Not the shambles we had about the telecoms.

This is in no way directed at any particular president or ML for the past AGM.  I just don't want to see it happen next year on another topic.

SMV you make an excellent point! I am paying for a childrens playground which I never use!

Internet will benefit the comunity in many ways, but it will also enable people to work and conduct business from their apartment, which mean people will spend longer on the resort, or visit more often. The knock on effect of this is that the Clover will make more, the supermarket will make more and could even lead to more facilities.

My question now is, do we have to wait till the next AGM or can something be done in the mean time? Almost everybody posting on this thread appears to want it? If La Torre, La Island and Hacienda can get it, why cant we?

The main issue here appears to be trying to do this via the community charge.

There is clearly a pent up demand on the resort for decent internet connectivity.  Perhaps the way forward is to implement a collective voluntary Not for Profit scheme outside of the community charge regime.

If someone can let me have the contact details of a local Telecomms company or comapnies? I am happy to get some costs together for the installation and ongoing charges for a shared fibre connection.

As well as some up front funding, this would also require:

- a small amount of space within an existing building for the telcomms company to install their network equipment.

- permission to lay cabling within the resort

Anyone got any ideas on how we could address these points?

Gerry you are correct the issue is paying via the community charge apparently we are not permitted to use the community charge to pay for private services, internet is a private service in this instance, however if a vote was unaminous then we could do it, (No chance as long as PW and Banks own property)

Admin and Some presidents (myself included) have attended several meetings regards telecomms and quotes from Local companies and to install new cables, new satellites and new transmitters etc (Cant use existing) we were quoted close to half a million euros. So set up costs are massive.

Basic TV is not private as we are not allowed satellites etc so the community have to provide.

If you believe you can get cheap quotes etc and get a system installed by talking to local companies then please make yourself known to the Administrators.they would be only too pleased if you could solve their / our Telecoms

Just because we did not get internet at this time telecoms remains an issue and it is still being persued although any new supplier would i guess provide Basic TV and cheap add on packages which is probably the best we will achieve, it will not happen overnight.

Darren, in case you decide to make the most of your fees must warn you about the curly wulry red slides. Wife lost balance grazed her elbow, still has mark two months on.

Seriously our boy doesn't use our playpark either, two naff rockers. We have to walk through four jardines to get to a slide.

Also if we cannot increase fees how do they account for inflation?

Mick,

Are you saying that because we don't allow satellites the community must pay for basic TV.  I thought dishes were allowed out the back of the apartments if they are on the ground....might have got this mixed up with something else.

Do people normally require a satellite to get basic TV in spain?

Seems we are paying a lot for something that is deemed not a private service.  I'm assuming we are only paying for the basic or the banks would have vetoed it.

So on the same lines is a phone service regarded as a private service? So we can kiss goodbye the chance of having the internal phone connection.

The Horizontal Properties act does allow for facilities such as telecomms to be introduced into communities without a 100 % vote being passed but stipulates that any properties who do not want the new facilty and vote against it do not have to pay anything towards it.

More than one third of properties must be in favour of the proposal to begin with and for example if 50% of properties vote yes to a proposal then they pay all of the costs of set up , maintainance etc. At a later date if some of the "NO" voters wish to join the scheme then they must then pay their share of costs.

I think this was an update to the HPA to prevent one person or property owner from preventing " progress " within communities while protecting that owners right to not pay increases in fees for facilities they do not want.

Please read Section 17of the HPA paragraph 2 or Second as its called.

Regards Ken

 SMV

you asked

So on the same lines is a phone service regarded as a private service? So we can kiss goodbye the chance of having the internal phone connection.

The resort was set up with communial TV from Communial Satellites. At the time of build no Telecom company would come near the resort due to the exceptionally high cost of installation in middle of desert so Polaris Telecoms installed it as they had no choice.

Satellites at the moment are not allowed or arials or any communication antenna under the current rules.

Spanish people can recieve TV with just a simple set top arial, they dont need the set up we have for international channels but they pay for it like the rest of us its a community asset and we at the moment have no choice.

The current package has been reviewed and price reduced considerably so we will pay less for what we already had?

Telephone and Internet are available and have been for some time owners need to arrange their own contract with PW Telecoms which is no different to anywhere else.

We are seeking better deals but for the time being we have what we have.

I live hear and have explored every option and looked at several companies and would love to pay the 2€ extra rather than the 37€ month i pay now?

One day.....

Thanks Mick for a very clear expanation on this issue. Like you I would have loved to have had the internet at a low cost , but there is a wider issue that needs a more in depth knowledge of the situation, and you have an understanding from both sides of the argument..

maybe tomorrow better today does not always happen , but we can hope
