Thanks Mick for a very clear expanation on this issue. Like you I would have loved to have had the internet at a low cost , but there is a wider issue that needs a more in depth knowledge of the situation, and you have an understanding from both sides of the argument..

maybe tomorrow better today does not always happen , but we can hope

David

Thanks Mick.

Can certainly understand the frustration of being a resident and paying a high monthly fee when the offer of €2 was passed up.

just a note to add to the prevention of normal life on Condado

i would spend a lot more time on condado with internet

i have lost renters who wanted month long stays to work somewhere quiet because of lack of internet and internet only.

Where in the modern world do we not have facilites for a phone - on Condado thats where

To be fair it should already be included in the fee we are paying and should be an absolute minimum we have phones connected.

It is quite bad really is it not. 4 years in and no phone?

From what Mick says the installation of the infrastructure for phone/broadband is the big issue.  To make it worthwhile we'd have to get everyone to agree to it or the people using it would pay a high fee to make it worthwhile for the provider or to payback the community (for the private service).

But in saying that Polaris Telecom must have spent a few bob themselves and would be unhappy if they lost the potential custom of the whole resort if a new provider was found.  Maybe they could be encouraged to provide the service at a much reduced rate if say a 1/3 of apartments signed up for it. Might be €5/month for those apartments wishing to take it up.  Then everyone could get what they want.

Maybe a bit too simplistic approach and I'm sure there are hurdles to overcome.
