Internet for 2 Euros!

These are the things you can Only know if you live on the resort and have time to find out. so is there a plan that only does the TV package and the internet without the telephone line and call package.

I have the tv installed already as do a lot of apartments.

 Actually you plug your router ( that you got from Polaris, don't waste money trying to get one in the UK ) into the coax cable in the box on the wall by the kitchen, or by the front door for La Isla and penthouses.   There are CAT5 cables inside that box that go to the wall sockets but there won't be wired up.

IF we get option D, then all you will need to buy is the cable router either with or without Wifi, nothing else as the 2Mb plan is included.

If option D is not accepted then you will need to get a contract for internet plus the router.

Option D is the only one with internet included.

Now that it seems to be confirmed that there are no usage charges for the 2MB broadband I think it is a good idea.

An internal phone will also be useful.

My concerns are how long is this price fixed for, are we committing to a number of years, do we have to buy their equipment (phone, wireless router) and has this been priced. 

I am assuming they are tearing up any contracts with current residents that will overlap this "community contract".

So plan D is the only one with internet but also has the internal telephone  connection. Does the " Internal Telephone " refer to phone calls within the resort?  and the additional telecommunications which are charged for refer to external phone line and external calls ie the 600 minutes for 15.00euro. The additional telecommunicationscharged are optional , is that correct.

Sorry to be going around in circles but we need to clarify these thing so that people have the clearest picture of the situation possible.

 Yep. Internals phones can only call within the polaris world resort system.

To make external calls you would need an external line connected at your own cost.

that puts things into perspective, the extra cost to me would be the difference in costs between the different plans  ie 150,000euro divided by is it 3000 apartments = approx 50 euro / year.

Rather than comparing options B & D, compare D with what we currently have.

We currently pay €6 per apartment, option d is €8 so €2+iva a month more.  Option b is €3.5 so €2.5+IVA less.

So would you rather save €3 a month or pay €2.36 extra and have internet?

Seems like a no brainer to me, we would certainly  spend longer on Condado as hubby would be able to do  work from home.

 Just another thing that needs asking, Are they going to increase the bandwidth on the site or will the internet come to a standstill in the summer time when potentialy there will be a lot more people using the internet at the same time than there would have been at any time previous

As they are signing up the entire resort (if voted for) I can't see how they could not be supplying the bandwidth to cater for all the apartments.

But as they are a PW company I would have the same reservations...which I'm sure they would say are unfounded.  Its probably a wait and see situation.

I would hope though that its a contract breaker if they are shown not to be providing what they have said...can always test the speed when you are online.

Option D sounds like a no brainer. Would anyone know if those of us who already have a PW cable modem would still be able to use it on the new system?

 The system is not changing only the name of the company that provide it, Polaris Telecom is now A2Z, so everything will work as before.  In the meeting we had with them in March they said that the bandwidth would be increase to provide everyone with a 2Mb connection.

Looking back on this thread it seems that everyone (apart from 1 person) agrees with the 2 Euro increase. Surely this will get the majority vote.... Come on everyone make sure you VOTE!!

There is talk that the Clover is to shut, this follows the closure of the restaurant, gym and sports zone. We need internet to give us something to do and keep us connected with civilisation!

Also this will enable people to work from Condado, meaning people could spend more time at the place and this can only improve the situation.

Firstly I would like to thank all who have given me answers and clarification to my questions especially Ptan who seems to have patience in abundance.

Secondly I will say that I did vote for option B in the original vote even though I had all the info , I just could not make head or tail of it. Having gotten the detailed info based on the questions I have asked I am now in the position to vote for option D. You may also find that other people reading this post will now change their mind and vote for option D .

Thirdly , Just on the off chance that I may be the {1 person who does not agree} with everyone else according to Darren I suggest that everyone re-read the post from the start paying particular attention to the opening post which stated that the original vote was 10 to 9 against , and my previous posts in which at no point did I disagree with the introduction of a new system except to say that I would not make use of it.

I was not referring to you, I was referring to Chaddyowl who posted the following on this thread:-

I am guessing from that post he is against the 2 Euro increase, however everybody else appears to be prepaired to pay the extra for a 2MB broadband line.... Thats more than I am currently getting at home!

COME ON VOTE FOR FOR BROADBAND!!!!!! You can then stream movies from your home computer straight to your TV in condado! How cool would that be?

My unreserved apologies for the implication Darren, I some times suffer from foot in mouth disease , or is it from not looking before i leap, not sure on this occasion. I must admit I did not see the other thread but will make a point of checking it when i get home.

Will be changing my vote to plan D though .

 At the moment I have the Polaris Telecom package which cost's me 15 eur. per month for 1mb. This charge will rise after the initial 12 month period to 25 eur. per month. So it's obvious which is the best deal ---- option D
