Because they were expecting investment from a big investor conference this week in la Torre. This has now been postponed. At the minute they have plans but no money.

Spoke to bar staff in clover 2 days ago and he said that clover HAS been taken over and they are all waiting to see what happens with their jobs!!
He also asked polaris when they had the bar if he could set up his own in Al Kasar but they said no, he is now going to ask new Al Kasar owners about a unit opposite the clover or if not opening and taking over the old Surgery bar.
He says he thinks polaris have no idea how to run a bar hge would open early for all breakfasts and close at 12 midnight.
He also would not charge the prices that polaris do as they are too expensive..
Hope this clears some rumours up!!
This is Smivs hubby and far better half by the way HAHA

Dont really know that means?
If businesses open then fantastic. But think of it this way....If you had the money would you open a business in Al Kasar?
Answer it honestly......

CM84,
I am not a business man so I would not know, lets wait and see shall we, I cant see IRM taking control of such a large enterprise just to keep it practically empty and they are top business people. You would have to think they know what they are doing so lets try and be a bit more optimistic and you never know.

CM84, I assume you're talking about the The Hispo-Arabic Investment Forum, yeah? If so, your post is more than a bit misleading. It was postponed because the Islamic Development Bank Conference was rescheduled to 26-30th June, and the dates clashed with the Forum. I wouldn't go reading too much into it.

Re your comment 'at the minute they have plans but no money'. Can I ask you where did you get that information from? As I understand it investment negotioations are ongoing and will continue thoughout the year. As is necessary in such delicate business negiotations, confidentiality is paramount (if you excuse the pun). So I'm interested to know how you got the inside scoop that they've been unsuccessul to date in attracting any investment?

Cappielow,
It suits people like CM84 and Darren Wilkes (if they are not the same person) to bend the facts to suit their particular ultra pessimistic view. They are ,however entitled to their opinion so we will have to put up with more of it till the facts actually prove them wrong or right as the case may be.

I think you're right dakey.
The fact is, only those close to the negotiations really know what's going on.
So it does get a bit tedious when 'trolls' come on and state things as fact that they can't possible know, presumably in the hope of just winding people up and getting a reaction. It's a sad and immature person who takes pleasure and enjoyment out of annoying others, but there are unfortunately plenty of them around.
CM84, if I've misjudged you and you DO have inside knowledge about the state of the negotiations to back up your statements, then I apologise in advance.

The worst thing anyone can do is slang off a resort. It puts people off buying and upsets other people who dont come over regularly and then worry what is happening.
The truth is we are very very lucky in comparison
Firstly as a golfer we have a completed golf course. It has been rated by many as the best on the costa blanca/costa calida- and much better than la manga- and the prices are good in comparison. 40 e with a buggy on societies days for a championship course is excellent value for money
Today i counted at least 10 people working on the course and the amount of chemicals they supply is amazing. Anyone in that business knows the cost is horrendous so we can work out they are operating at a loss. There were 50 golfers on tour yesterday and their only disappointment were the lack of facilities afterwards. However this is being worked upon from 2 ends
A new clubhouse is a nessesity and olagolf do know this- they arent stupid. Just remember that in spain we have a 25% unemployment rate for the under 25s and the banks are a a nightmare to raise loan monies from.
it will happen but it takes time. Please be patient and understand the economic situation.Slagging off helps no one.
Viva la vida!
Gracias.

CM84,
I have looked back on this thread and there is no mention of a decision on thursday, to be revealed on friday. Have I missed something? Who is making a decision and about what?

Olagolf have a 15 year lease on the golf course. Whilst agreements can be terminated it can be costly, it's also very shortsighted of IRM to put in managers, advertise that fact and then remove them. Doesnt say much for their business plan and would make other organisations doubt their ability and they wont want that in such a cut throat areana- so I think the idea that Olagolf are on the way out is very unlikely.
IRM likely have had a long term plan for CdA and the last year has merely been taken up with negotiations with Polaris so that they could get the best deal out of handing over the remaining assets on CdA. I'd expect that when Polaris handed over much of CdA initially to forstall the threat of Bankruptcy it was always their plan to hand over the rest- just with the right deal. Nothing progressed on CdA since PW handed over the initial assets and PW showed no interest in the resort- they were just stalling.
Whatever IRM plan to do I'd expect they will progress CdA; whether it'll suit us all I dont know because they're likely to either put in managers, sell to new owners (Chinese bazaar anyone? A pound shop?) or sell off land. Some of Al Kasar units could be business accomodation- they dont need customers and it often doesnt matter where they are located- but it wouldnt create the retail and food outlets we have wanted. It would be progress though.

Come on Tony,
'Buisiness accommodation' ? So we will have the local joinery shop & a plumbers merchant within the area that is supposed to be a recreation area for a holiday destination !!! Now I think you usually make common sense postings but I think you have lost it a bit here with this one and are way off the mark with pure speculation in all aspects of the post.
Regards,

Sorry you feel that way Will- I actually meant office space with regard to business use because I had heard that a stationary suppliers had shown some interest with regard to creating admin offices. I didnt really mean the type of business's you referred to; wrong choice of words possibly.
I wasn't speculating at all as it had been well posted and advertised that Olagolf had a long lease and IRM are to advertise all their holdings at CdA so who's to say what will develop from that.
If I'm wrong I stand corrected but CdA isnt just a 'holiday destination' its a residential resort and that's quite a different thing. This is why some of the Presidents want to keep the community charge very low- they live there and to them its an urbanisation not a holiday destination, many of them and the people they represent bought because PW heavily advertised CdA in Spain as a place to live and to have your '1st home and bring up your family' therefore practical use of the Al Kasar might not seem so out of place to some

Tony makes a lot of sense. Look at la Torre town center. A bank, a solicitors and a real estate office. Thats it. La Torre is a finished resort with hotel and facilities and nobody has opened anything. So why would anybody open in al kasar. I hope they do honestly but I just don't feel it will happen. Best bet is to sell the al kasar to film studios to use as a prison scene cos it is just horrible from the outside. Inside it's great but first impressions are important.
