Hi everyone

After weeks of preparation and and communication with other site members we set off on our visit to Murcia, (site plans in hand) ready to fulfill our promise to all of you who asked us to take photo's of your properties.

We were not allowed on the site!

The first time we tried, about 6pm Friday evening, we thought the builders would have gone but their lorries and concrete mixers were everywhere making it impossible to make our way around the site, so we thought we'd leave it until Sunday and try again.

5pm Sunday drove up to the site, not a lorry in sight!

We jumped out of the car rubbing our hands in anticipation walking toward the commercial centre, camera primed and ready for action.

We heard a voice from behind us and turned to see a security guard frantically waving his finger from side to side, "no possible!! no possible!!"

After a short conversation in pigeon English/Spanish we turned to leave the site. When we were out of sight we turned around to try again for a sneaky visit without his knowledge but he spotted us and then he escorted us from the site personally!

So, many apologies to everyone who asked for photo's, hope the rest of you have better luck.  If you drive onto the site I would suggest, with hindsite to drive around the outskirts and far away from the commercial centre and do your exploration from there!

With the state of the roads at present I also cannot see the properties being ready for April.

On a positive note, we went to see the new pine furniture pack and were very pleasantly surprised.

The colour is darker, more like a chestnut colour. The TV unit is a more practical design, not like the welsh dresser before. The bed heads are more chunky and modern, the drawers are also nicer.  The dining table is square and chunky and it extends half its size again, chairs look good too.

Overall, for a freebie, it blows the socks off the previous pack.

(The cane furniture loked the same however we did not remember the old style as we chose pine)

So a big SORRY from both of us

Nigel & Stella

Hi Nigel and Stella,

Well thanks for your efforts in trying to help us all out  -  it must have been very frustrating for you both after all the time and expense of going over there .

Our agents have informed us in the past to always agree a  visit time with themselves , then they liaise direct with Masa to avoid the problems which you encountered . They said that Masa put these restrictions on site visits due to Health and Safety concerns ( Yes that old elf and safety bugbear , again - they are in the same boat as us , being in the EU )  It may be even more difficult to get on site  now due to all of the final touches being made ie. tarmacing  ( well , we hope that is the reason  for it )

An acquaintence  of ours is going out there next week , so if we get any news from her we will pass it on to you all.

Regards,

Roger and Fran

Hi Nigel & Stella,

So annoying for you, we are going out on 20th March, so can you tell me did you drive in the old way, or did you try the new road? could you have gone with your agent?

We have in the past gone on our own and like you when it should be quiet or empty. Do you think it might be better to go when everyone is there working now?

Hope you had a nice time anyway and didn't feel to p......... off for not getting in.

Sue & Ray

Hi All

Thanks for your replies.

Our agent tried to arrange with the builder on two occasions for our access to the site but didn't got a reply either time.

When you go to the site you will either enter by the new road if everyone is working which is great, or on a Sunday this is padlocked closed and you will have to take the old road which now snakes ALL over the place. We used both.

Personall I think quiet or empty is still your best bet to view, but don't hang around on Sunday near the commercial area because that's where the security guard is!

On the new road at the end turn sharp left to avoid him and on the old road carry straight on passing the commercial centre about 100 yds down a street to your left. (sounds like a cheat from a computer game!!)

We managed just a few snaps before being cut off in our prime and I shall try to upload them asap.

Regards

Nigel & Stella
