A succesful trip

Try as i have, to no avail, i cant get any details on bus services that serve San Cayetano in any direction.

 Can anyone help?

Please  reply if you know of where and how I can get details.

Hi Pat, I do know there is a bus stop in San Cayetano and 2 bus lines. The only help regarding numbers is the bus service in Alicante that does come down to Torrevieja and i expect to San Cayetano but cant be sure

The phone number for Costa Azul/ Bus service in Alicante is 0034965924660. Hopefully you could get some further info from that number..... abit more specific to what you want.

The bus service from Alicante calls at San Javier on route to Cartegena, i was there earlier this week but couldnt find anything out, just thought it would be good if there was a bus connection to the beach and train station at basilicas ( there is a taxi office opposite train station) - on a regular basis from San Cayetano. I"ll continue the search , if i find out any info i'll post it,

Oh right i see. Well when we purchased our property through Parador we were told that there was a free bus service that would go to the beach every hour from San Cayetano (i got the impression it was a seperate service to the main bus line). How accurate that is i dont know.......... as we hadnt signed on the dotted line at that point... if you know what i mean. To me that would sound to good to be true but hey you never know. Sorry I cant help further. Im sure Volfen - Sheila and Alan would know but they havnt posted for a while (hope they are ok).

I will ask Parador owners club about that bus route

On the fact sheet we got from Antonio in the sales office when we purchased our property it says ;

Less than 10 min driving to Santiago de la Ribera beach. Less than 15 min driving to Los Alcazares or San Pedro del Pinatar. You can also go by bus.

It also says you can go to Dos Mares shopping centre in San Javier by bus

Bus Stop - 2 bus lines. There is a regular service within walking distance

I haven't got any details on times, no of buses etc

We did get a timetable from the station at Balsicas when we were over with times to Cartagena, Murcia etc. On the fact sheet it does say that Balsicas station is less than 5 minutes driving or by bus.

Buses in Murcia make up for the lack of trains connections around the region. For buses around the region you can try Latbus 968 250088 www.latbus.com

Have ben on Latbus website for about 2 hours. Have discovered that bus 70E from Sucina goes past San Cayetano 4 times a day during the week. It says Cruce San Cayetano (whatever that means) It goes to Santiago de la Ribera and loads of other places as far as I can make out but it is all in Spanish so help is needed urgently.

I will try again tomorrow and keep ypu posted. Thanks again.

Hi Pat,

Cruce San Catetano means San Cayatano crossroads which I suppose is the place where the traffic lights are at . I seem to remember seeing a bus stop/ shelter there now I think about it. We are going out soon so can check but someone may already know for certain.

That makes sense, I do remember a bus shelter  just outside the development. We stopped to look for a timetable but nothing was up except a couple of posters. There was also a very small market (about 10 stalls) a little old fashioned but the fruit and veg stall was really cheap.

We then went to look for Ikea but ended up in the middle of Murcia City in what seemed like rush hour , never again, quite a scary experience for any driver who got in our way!

Hi Tina & Pat,

Had a look at the latbus website. If you look under planos de lineas (map of bus routes).Put in 70 and you will get El Pinatar- Murcia then press confirm(ar). It will then show a highlighted set of routes which show the 70E as going to San Cayetano. The only thing is that the E service seems to be the only one going to San Cayetano although all,but the D service, seem to pass through  most of  the beach resorts. This probably accounts for the sparce timetable to San Cayetano. Can't see a direct service from San Cayetano to Balsicas which means we would probably have to change buses so it would probably be just as easy to get between these two using a car or a taxi. If you were willing to take a taxi fromBalsicas back to San Cayetano it appears that you could catch any service number 70. Be helpful to find out Taxi numbers? Looking at the map again, the map show the stop at El Mirador , and  I'm not sure as to the whereabouts of this -any help? 

There also seems to be a "Bonobus" ticket which is like a multiple journey ticket available but I'm sorry my Spanish is not up to understanding the travel conditions/restrictions. Perhaps Tina's husband  Jaime could help us out?

No doubt as in the UK this information will be wrong due to"delay in going to print" , so apologies in advance for any duff info I have given !!!!

Another site I saw yesterday was www.alsa.es which is long distance bus services to places like Madrid etc.

I will get jaime to look at that other site and translate those conditions/restrictions... hes at work hence the only reason im still not snuggled up in dark murky depths of my bed.  When we had kids no one told me they didnt sleep in on a weekend..... Im saving for a trumpet ready for when they are teenagers ha ha ha ha

Although this is transport related it isn't public transport but this seemed like a suitable thread.

Whilst you have been trawling the net have you come accross any car showrooms in our area. We thought we'd sell our cars in the UK and buy a LH drive in Spain. I might be looking in the wrong places but haven't found anything as yet. We don't want anything too flash just a decent family size car, maybe a couple of years old.

Would be great if you could bear this in mind during your surf time.

I have been looking at cars in spain and they are expensive there is a used car sales garage in dolares it looks like the garage from hell.

you have to be careful cos there are alot of ex renters out there. also the spanish dont look after there cars like we do

i have been looking on e bay and searching for (cars spain) i have just found out that there is two bca auctions out there like we have in manchester.

i may even buy one  here and take it over lhd cars here are alot cheaper

Hi to those looking at buying cars in Spain. One useful link that may be helpful is the local newspapers. I've had a look at www.costablanca-news.com which not only gives you private sellers of vehicles, but some useful links to 'reputable?' showrooms in the area as well. You could also try the costa calida newspapers, seem to be 2 of those - the 'reporter' and the 'informer' but neither as comprehensive as the costa blanca one. Whether to buy something here in England and then drive it over is another option, but then you have the thing of re-registering and the MOT equivalent stfuff to sort, which could in the long term prove more expensive. Who knows, just looking forward to finally getting out there, away from this cold weather and the snow.
