Well I have not been driving behind Martin all night - but absolutely enjoyed the few times driving on the new road today.
When returning from the beach today, I tried to take a few photos from the station to the bridge. With the sun shining in the camera it wasn´t that easy, but I have uploaded a few photos of the benches and the "flowerbeds".

Thanks for uploading all the pics. I still cant believe with the current economic situation that we are getting a new 1 million euro road. So Miracles do happen ?

I'm away on holiday myself then 'Westport' don't like August here at all. The driving range I have been going to, is just down the hill from Benalmadena Pueblo, there is a nine hole course and bowling greens.

All works seem to have stopped now. So what do we have??? A footpath all down one side of the road (railway side) all good. A completly tarmacked road of which one half is complete, the other half needs the second layer on it. There is a ramp in the centre, this is good as it slows down the trafic. Car parking on both sides of the road on the first section of the road, and car parking on one side of the road on the second section. All in all we are 75 % finished, when will the work re-start I wonder???
P.S. They have dug a small trench accross the newly laid tarmac today near to the railway bridge. They must have forgotten something. The top road is open, but the layout is confusing at first.
Martin.

Hi martin thanks for the latest news on the road.
Have the parking meters been put in yet on the new road.
It was handy for us all to park at the station and use the train.
I hope we dont get people parking on the hill at the side of phase 2 now.
Thanks Irene

Hi Martin
Thanks for the updates. Can you do a list of directions, from the petrol station at the top, down to Don Juan, as I send directions to my renters and they drive in from that end. At the moment I have bear left after petrol station / higueron restaurant, down the slope then left at the first roundabout and so on etc.
Thanks

yes its very much the same, when you are arriving from the airport its still turn left at the petrol station but there are two or three oppertunities to do so.(thats the confusion) The first turn is FOR the petrol station. The second is the turn WE take. The third is an ILLIGAL move but still possible to do. Its OK when you have done it a couple of times.

Thanks for that. You are right about being confused. Now I am. Has the road by the garage been split into 3 sections. One that leads into the garage. The next is ours. Is it still a bear left. What is the 3rd illegal one. Where does that lead to. I thought after our one the road just continued up the hill. Is the little sign saying " Ranchoz ? " still beside where we come off. Is there any road signs pointing towards our road.
Cheers

I´ll take a photo for you later ´Westport. The illegal one is a break in the curb-stones and has a solid white line (ie-don´t cross it) When you see the photo it will be equally confusing. The turn down the hill is in exactly the same place as it was, just not as straight forward to get to.

I put a few photos on 'Westport' from up the back. Photo 2 shows the layout best with the three turn offs. Look at photo 3 the solid white line markings and it is possible to cross these. The sign you mentioned has now gone.
PS nice view from up there.

Top man. I see what you mean now. I suppose the best way to descibe the new layout is, go past the petrol station, them immediately on your left is a 30 mph sign, turn left into the small slip road just before it, where there is a peach coloured villa ? with trees overhanging it, and follow road down the hill to Don Juan.
Thanks for that. Big help. Don't want them to end up wandering around Mijas looking for the place.
