Thanx a lot for keeping us informed David and Irma.
It's really a pity regarding our road, because a bit of wind and it's a mess again!
This message is not very good I think, because homes could be built next to DJIII?
Let's hope this will soon be solved as well.
Regards,
Corrie

Hi Corrie
The land beside Phase 3 has always been zoned for housing development. It is unusual to have land this close to the coast lying idle. I don't know when it will be developed but expect it will happen when the economic recovery starts in Spain.

Thanks David, we had no idea because I thought only a road would appear in the future.
But like you said it's understandable.
Let's hope this will take some time regarding the many apartments in DJIII unsold.
When this also means the road will not be finished we have a problem I think.
Regards,
Corrie

As David says, this is prime land close to the beach. some of the road infrastructure is already in place. I would expect to see something happening here in the next 2-3 years maybe sooner.... I think the development will be mainly villas which is good news for DJ as it will lift the area, tidy the roads up and you never know, we may just get that little bar and supermarket opposite the train station we've been wishing for. :-) Rgds Andy

I remember the original plans back in early 2003 showed a number of units beside the road opposite the train station. Then again, I always saw wonderful palm trees scattered throughout the grounds of DJ and plans for an 18 hole championship golf course beside it. It's developers and estate agents mumbo jumbo that people still seem to fall for.
Wasn't there agreed outline planning permission for a golf school on the land we are talking about that was given the go ahead about a year or two ago. It was also in the papers. Any update on them plans.
Have they started on the road yet. If not what is the planned start date, and should we add 7 years to this date to get a rough starting date based on our own road :-)

They started working at the hill 1,5 weeks ago, so we had to drive to the other side to reach Fuengirola/Torreblanca/Carvajal by car.
Also cycling is impossible downhill.
But like David said our road will take some time?? (see below)
From Higueron you cannot reach Don Juan either, because that road is also closed.
Only the road behind our apartments is available now for the next months.

Nothing changed CC. The area between Residencia El Higueron and Don Juan is scheduled for 1500 apartments while El Higueron itself still has the option to expand to 1200 apts (twice it's current size).
The total number (El H: 1200, DJ 1 to 3: about 600, inbetween: 1500) would be sufficient to merit a supermarket, some small shops and a few bars to provide for an estimated 7000-10000 inhabitants of the Carvalal area.
As the town hall long ago declared this to be a luxurous area with relatively more green and lower buildings than elsewhere in Fuengirola even lower numbers of effecitive inhabitants should be sufficient to merit the shops and bars.
Nowadays our 'high standards' prescribed by the official planning actually hamper economic development of our area, but in the long run this will be the 'upper class' area of Fuengirola. Small comfort for now, but good for long term value of our properties.

Well, in that case let's hope building the apartments will take a long time.
Because I'm afraid this will be a ghosttown with unfinished apartments or empty?
A pity also for DJIII, the people will look upon another building, or worse against, like DJII - 1
We will have to be patient and see what will happen, like the Spanish say: manana....!!

Highly unlikely Willie. They are doing a lot more than just resurfacing. It is scheduled to take 3 months and they are more likely to overrun than finish early

Hi Stef,
By car you can still take salida nr. 217 to Don Juan.
I don't think this will change! Of course the tunnel is closed.
Like David said this will take some time. The mayor spoke about 3 months.
So for going to Fuengirola or whatever you will have to take the A7 or go through Benalmadena Pueblo, whatever you choose.
Have a nice holiday!

I don't know when they think they'll be finished Westport but all of the pipework etc is done and kerbs in. They only really have to level it all off and surface it now so I'd hope we are weeks rather than months away from completion
