Well what can I say, the footpaths are coming along fine. Unfortunatly they have dug up some of the new laid tarmac ( a small peice in centre ) and a trench has been dug near it. Hopefully only a small delay.
Don't write off mid-November just yet.

I would expect them to have a break throughout August, but you never know, with the current climate. If they are working they might want to continue working. The road up the back is almost ready for the final layer of tarmac now, they could finish that before August I'm sure.

Don't worry, no news has been good news. The are going along very well, the footpaths seem to be taking shape first as the last thing to be complete will be the final layer of tarmac. It appears that the road will split into two, as a small island has appeared near the railway entrance, and they are concentrating on this section at the moment. Also a large area of paving has been completed at the entrance to the railway which looks great. Sorry Andy I will try for photos over the weekend, It depends on which 'Feria' I end up at.

Cheers Martin and enjoy your ferrias, I am not jealous honestly.... It is Ramadan where i am and I nearly got into trouble yesterday for eating a packet of crisps whilst shopping in Ikea. Luckily no one made a compliant. Had they got the police involved I would have been fined 200 euro for eating food in a public place. :-)

Thanks for the photos. Why such a big gap between the footpath and the railway line wall. They told me there would be parking spaces all along both sides. Any idea if the spaces will be metered. This could help prevent too many cars coming from the main road to park there and pay for the maintenance of the area. Any chance of us putting a petition together to send to the town hall to get a left filter traffic light at the junction for our turning from the main road so the taxi drivers cannot keep ripping us off because they go into the Benalmadena zone. Once the road is finished that will be one less excuse to charge extra, why not get the other one sorted as well by getting a left turn at that junction. A filter light would also help clear the road coming down from the railway bridge, preventing a bottleneck there, so as we turn left into our road, the cars coming the hill are clear to turn right at the same time out onto the main road. More traffic will start to use the route down from Higueron once the road is complete so this will be a good argument to put forward to the townhall.

Just come along the roadworks and was suprized to see about six workers there, unfortunatly they are digging a very deep trench accross towards the railway station. Another small hold-up we hope.
Martin.
P.S. Its getting very noisey here at Don Juan now, I have a rowdy Welsh crowd at one side and a huge Irish party infront, my T.V. won't go up any louder (Thats summer for you)

First real use of the new car parking today (police wern't to happy) early parkers moved the bollards and parked near the bridge, an hour later at least sixty cars were parked. Workers won't be too happy in the morning, the bollards are everywhere.

Hi all
I have just uploaded 6 pictures taken around 5pm today. The road is almost finished, I have heard we should be able to drive on the tarmac tomorrow. When we drove into the city this morning we counted around 20 workers. They have been working long days for the past week. Next episode in a few days

We were wondering too what they intend to do. From the trainstation to the bridge, they have paved a wider area. A few squares are left for probably plants. I hope they will do same from the trainstation to Don Juan. I will try to remember the camera next time we walk by.
I forgot to mention that a bunch og benches were delivered today. The black ones that you see along the beach. I think the Boulevard will be great.

Let's hope so, we waited many years for the road.
In Spain they take a long time to decide (or whatever) what to do, but when they start most of the time the works are great I think.
They also finally finished the parking at the boulevard next to the small bridge at Los Boliches, also a better view, although we have to pay now for parking....but it looks fine now..
Thanks for the update, very kind of you.
Kind regards,
Corrie

Bit of a late post, but have been driving up and down the NEW road all night. We now have seats, dust bins and even some street lights are in place, shame about the centre of the road works, this still could take some time to resolve. possibly (mid-November).
