To all new residents and non resident owners on Torre Alcantara.

There are a number of skips on Calle Viczconde de Ros which have been provided for the use of the residents of torre Alcantara when the development is complete. I imagine that there will be one green and one yellow skip for each street ultimately. As you probably know the green ones are for general household rubbish and the yellow for recycling of plastics bottles, tin cans and what they call bricks (which are, I think, Tetra Pak type containers for wine, orange juice etc). Skips for recycling glass and paper are in various other locations in the village.

In time we will, when the development is adopted by Balsicas, have these skips emptied every night as is done throughout the village, However, this is not presently the case and, in fact, the ones on Calle Vizconde de Ros have been emptied only once in the last six months ( about 2 weeks ago ).

As the weather warms up. it is obviously not a good situation to have househod rubbish (much of which can be waste food)  to be festering for months in these skips. It will obviously become a health hazard and probably encourage rats and other vermin. Clean waste such as cardboard from furniture and appliances should not be a problem

We were told that the skips behind the development ( in the old village if you like) can be used for the time being as these are collected nightly except at weekends.I would suggest that this shoould be the rule until we can get regular collections.

Hope you  don't mind me raising the matter.

Hi Robin,

Sensible suggestion.  We put some cardboard there in November when we moved into our house but were told by Ciara (Taray) that these shouldn't be used, so we have always used the alternatives in the town.  When we were over in January, we went to Taray's offices to ask about a couple of things and mentioned the bins.  They promised to empty them, but I noticed in March that they just seemed to have moved them.

HI Martha,

Thanks for your response. In fact, It was Carol and Alex Caldwell and Sue and myself who moved them. At the same time we burned a lot of the cardboard and other stuff that was lying on the floor to make it look a bit tidier. We have now moved the bins even further down the road until they can be emptied on a regular basis.
