We're first time buyers and I'm a bit worried that progress on Corvera seems painfully slow. Is this normal?

We are 1st timers too and agree with your comment.  Who are your agents and lawyers and are you getting any explanation from them?

MRI aftersales only seem to be able to give 'scripted' replies to enquiries re: this concern and, when pressed for more info, don't bother to phone back.

My feeling is that the developers are manipulating the system so that they only get the licence when they are fairly sure that the will be able to complete in 18 month as stated in contracts. When be signed up in 2005 we were told that we would complete in 2007? It looks like the completion will be in 2008/9 and if I had know this was going to happen I may not have been so quick to sign up and pay 30%. Still I guess its a case of buyer beware and we'll either have to wait it out or sell before completion. ( sorry about the rant, got off my chest now lol! )

Don't know if the delays are normal, but I suspect the answer is yes.

Hi Gary (and others).

Having read forums on different developements, I think that the initial slow progress is the "norm". To be honest, who would want their apartment completed and paid for on the site as it is now? Planning Infrastructure and Groundworks are the most time consuming part of construction and these are lokking fairly good. I'm pretty sure that as soon as the actual building starts that they will rise in no time. Personally having bought on phase 3 i'm really hoping that the Golf Course will be somewhat established before I have to hand over the final payment on my penthouse.

Steve

I had a telephone conversation with Alastair Calder who has informed me that the foundations for phase 1 are laid they are just waiting for the build license, this is another step forward and there will be an update on the MRI website in august (photos)

I spoke to a representative from Calidona and have been advised that licence should be granted in September. Work will start immediately and also progress of work during July August is next to nil (due to temperaturs). I bought mine in phase 1 and I think that golf course shall not be playable until 3rd phase is near completion !!!!

Irrespectively, looking forward to it.

Rav.

Hello

We have just come back (26th October 2007) from a trip to visit Corvera and have posted a couple of photos.  Unfortunately, there does not seem to be any progress from the previous photos posted weeks previous.  This is our first visit since we made a decision to buy at Corvera in April 2005, so our first chance to view the show home which was gorgeous, although showing signs of damp!  We still believe it was the right decision to buy, and are looking forward to meeting you all!

Hi,

thanks for posting your photos, there seems to be some progress, I don't think the kerbstones were laid the last time. There also seems to be a lot of activity so maybe more is being done than we realise. Did you happen to notice if there are any more cranes on site or is it still just one? We're not goin over until january and are anxious for any updates.

Thanks

Hi

Can confirm there were about six cranes set up on site, although on both occasions we visited they were not being used.  There was some infrastructure activity - drilling and earth moving.

kind regards,

Debbie and Craig
