Hi all. This is my first thread and firstly I would just like to say thanks to you all for all the info on this site.
Does anyone know if they do a spanish equivalent of "pay as you go" with mobile phones?
I popped into a couple of shops but my spanish isn't good enough to explain what I wanted.

Hi
We went to Eroski in Cartagena a few weeks ago & there was a "phone House" shop (basically looked the same as carphone wharehouse stores in UK).
We bought a pay as you go phone for 44 Euros. This included 20 Euros credit.
The girl in the shop spoke some English & she kindly put the phone together & made a call to get it activated. There was a catalogue as well, so that might help in making yourself understood - just point!!!

We bought a Nokia PAYG at the Vodaphone shop near the "fountain" roundabout in Vera for 49 Euro's including 12 Euro's of free credit. This too has to be credited every 6 months.
There is an Orange shop nearby as well but we didn't go in there.
One of our neighbours bought a PAYG Movistar sim card from down near the Depau shop in Puerta Rey (don't know which shop it was) which he put in his UK mobile and that worked ok (also a cheaper way of doing it rather than buying the whole package).

Can you get the sim cards at the Depau shop and do they speak English. We want to buy a local pay as you go sim card and put in our UK phone. The shop may need to also get the unlock code for the phone to do this. How much is the sim card and how long does the credit on the phone last. Do not want to have to buy credit every month an not use it or loose it.
Any help appreciated
Stella

The movistar shop in puerta rey sells sim cards. I think they are 20 euros with 5 eusros credit, cant quite remember as i brought mine 2 years ago. But it worked immediately in my UK phone and topping up is easy.
I go in there and get 20 euros credit. they give you a receipt and you ring the number on the receipt and it automatically tops up your credit.
all in all very simple

We bought a complete package for 49 euro with 20 euro credit, from the Vodaphone shop in the Commercial centre by the fountain roundabout,we have left the phone in Spain for others to use and top up ,9 month top -up required. They speak English .
The d'pau shop sold us a television digital receiver ,when the complex is on analogue,we will just keep it until digital arrives ,but they need to be told and stop selling to owners from Keymare.
