Hi Bevron,
The new dishes are being installed in the centre of the roof and look really well. They are being properly installed and will not have any impact on people living below them. Already in block 3 the unauthorised dish has been removed and the owner connected to the communal system. Part of the Gemsat offer is that they will buy redundant dishes when people connect to the community system. We hope that people will work with Gemsat and switch to the Community system as they work their way round the blocks. If they don´t they will be asked nicely to remove them, then firmly and if they still don´t respond the matter will be refered to the town hall who have the power to issue penalties but we really don´t want to go down that route if it can be avoided.
The small dishes for other nationalites will only be installed where this is demand. No more than 1 will be required per block as the European signals are all broadcast from the same group of satelites.

Westport, there is another way to get sky in a second room, in uk i used to use a sender with a second remote, still means whatever one rooms is showing is the same in the second but somewhat cheaper then getting installation in the second room although the signal deteriorates somewhat.

The walls on block 8 were rotten according to the installer. He will install a concrete plinth and re-erect the dish on Tuesday. Unforeseeable, but still unfortunate.

Hi
If you are interested in arranging for your apartment to be connected up to the 1.5 metre dish and
multi-switch unit fitted on the roof of your block, then the following information may prove useful:-
1. This dish and multi-switch arrangement allows individuals to choose their own satellite receiver and decide whether to watch 'free-to-air' and/or 'pay-to-view' channels. The latter will usually require an personal subscription, at an additional cost, with Sky, etc.
2. Each dish, multi-switch and its associated cabling will be installed, maintained and replaced, where necessary, by the installer detailed below. It is understood that NO fees will be passed on to the community for future maintenance, etc.
3. Contact details for the recently appointed satellite dish system installer are:-
Gemsat Communication
Opening Hours: 09:00 – 18:30 Monday – Friday
Contact either Gwyn or Paul on the numbers below or e-mail: gwynpreece@yahoo.co.uk
Gwyn: (+34) 680 532275 Paul: (+34) 686 174212
includes a new cable being run from the apartment up to the roof via existing ducting and connection to the dish). Obviously price does not include satellite receiver, viewing card or TV, etc.!
4. The cost of being connected to these official communial dishes is currently a one-off fee of 195 Euros (which
5. Contact GEMSAT directly to arrange for connection to the dish in your block. Note that one of their representative(s) will need access to the appartment in order to carry out the work required.
We hope you find the above useful as it's a summary of info kindly supplied to us by David Munster.

Hi All.... I am sorry to bring this subject up again, but I feel it may be beneficial to the community funds..... In May I visited my attico apartment in phase 1, The first thing I noticed was a satellite dish immediately over my apartment, during the course of the week, which I admit was rather windy, the noise of the wind against the satellite dish was very loud both in our living room area and spare bedroom.
I have e-mailed the company selected by the community to install the dishes, but they were adamant that the dish was not theirs, in which case the dish must have been erected illegally, I have read the report regarding this type of community offences, and I am happy that this will eventually be addressed..
The reason that I have posted this message is because of any damage to the structure of the roofs ect, The company erecting the official satellite dishes stated that the problem of the noise echoing through the premises is due to the dishes being fastened to the surrounding wall, these bricks apparently are air bricks which will amplify any noise created. Is anyone checking for damage when these illegal dishes are removed ?. If not the community will carry the cost when any such damage comes to light..
All the best Bevron.

I heard a report yesterday that the communications room in block 9 had been broken into and an unauthorised connection made to the community satelite system. The Spanish committee members were, understandably, annoyed as the whole point in installing a community system was to stop this kind of thing happening. I went to look and the lock was on the floor in bits. There is no excuse for smashing community property or stealing a satelite signal - Gemsat need the connection fee to recover the cost of installing the dishes.
Incidents like this make me ashamed to be the rep for English speakers. I don't yet know who the low life is that did this but it is being investigated and I will be pushing for firm action against whoever is responsible.

HI davmunster.
I understand your sentiments regarding the person responsible for the theft of services. I also know that you are in an unenviable position in having to investigate this apparent offence. I would have thought that the connection will be easy to trace, especially by the installers, but may I suggest that you take a back seat and report the criminal damage to the police, I am sure that even in Spain the damage is an arrestable offence, And there must be a further offence of extracting services or something equivalent.
The only reason I recommend you to let the police deal with this is to prevent you getting into an argument in which you don't deserve to be involved in, we do appreciate your ongoing interest in Don Juan, and I personally want you to continue this commitment, and not be put off by anti-social occupants.
Keep up the good work , Bevron.

In my opinion involvement of the Police is the last thing we want within the community.
Come on we are grown up people and let the people who are to blame give their story and a solution for the problem.
I still have faith in our community and her members!!
Maybe we need some rules and more important an execution plan when people don't folow the community rules.
It is very difficult to get grip on this I suppose.
Maybe someone has a good idea about this?
The only idea I come up with is a kind of membership (next to paid membership) which you can lose if you are not following the rules of the community.
Losing the membership will have impact acces to community facilities like pools, satelite, events, decissions at meetings etc.
Its just an idea
Best regards,
René

Hi all,
Unfortunately I know who did it. I discovered the break in as I already suspected it. I showed the damage to David to make sure there was a witness. There are some circumstances which made it relatively easy for me to identify the offender. I won’t reveal what I know, but I hope the person makes himself known. The people who did it (closely related to the actual owner) knew the rules and refused to use the services of Gemsat for reasons unknown to me. The actual owner knows the agreement with Gemsat as well as he reads here often enough.
I changed the lock after a few hours to protect the very expansive multiswitch which is property of Gemsat. The president is in favour of calling in the police as we have to get our damages refunded by the insurance company or the offender. The rest of the committee has still to give their opinion. I hope this person takes on his own responsibility and steps forward.
BTW: there is no actual cable connected as the multiswitch happened to be at full capacity. It must have been a disappointment after all the trouble of breaking in to find no available slot. If they had followed the normal procedure Gemsat would just have expanded the existing installation, but….

Hi all
If it is not the actual owner who did the damage, we can not name and shame him/her. I hope the owner will turn himself in to the president/vicepresident offering to pay for the damage. Else the President will have to go to the police to have the cost covered by the insurance.
to Rene:
That would be an option to punish people who do not respect the rules. But as far as I know it is not legal. Elsewhere on EOS i read that not even a non-payer could be denied acces to pools. The non-payer can bring an action to the community for that. But I lked the idea

I don't think this is a question of rules, it is clearly a case of deliberate damage to communal property which really cannot be tolerated. I don't understand why anyone should think that they can treat communal property as if it were their own and in the process end up causing damage which the community then has to repair. Obviously identifying the perpetrator can be a problem but where this is known perhaps sending a bill for the cost of repairs plus a fine to the owner responsible would help to reinforce the point. Owners who rent properties presumably retain a deposit against damage caused by their tenants and should of course make "rules of good behaviour, no damage etc" part of the rental agreement.

Hi All,
Not following community rules is one thing, but deliberate vandalism and theft is another matter all together. I would agree to getting the police involved in this matter. This damage and vandalism to communal property has to stop!

Hi All
Just to put a few things straight it would appear that Max thinks my parents went to Don Juan and broke a sky box.
The facts are my mother went with a sky installer(no cheaper than Gemsat) to Don Juan as he had no idea where it was and was refused entry to the box. Now the sky contractor then left with my mother. My mother phoned me to tell me only Gemsat could fit Sky as Max's wife had told them. I then got Gemsat number off the internet and arranged for them to install Sky only to be told that the police were involved because of damage and they couldnt have access.
Now although my mother never went to the skybox with the contractor he took no tools with him only a meter. When he came back he asked max's wife for keys to open the box only to be told Gemsat only contractors could access the box. This is when they left.
If the contractor did break the box then I am behind Max %100 . The contractor has said he will go to the police and Max and tell his side of the story.
My parents are upset that Max just jumped to conclusions rather than email me and find out what had really happened.
I would never condone any sort of vandalism and after Max was accused by the developer of causing damage to peoples apatments in the past I am shocked he didnt think before he started telling people that he knew the who did what without speaking to me first.
Max you know me and have been in my apartment so please let these people know I am not a vandal.
Andy

Hi all,
Of course Andy and I had some private conversations in advance to his post. Besides his mum called us several times.
I can't reveal what I know or heard as this is a police investigation. That's not my role. I don't and didn't accuse anyone publically. My posts were quite abstract and intended to be so.
We now have a major problem as Andy's mother wants to sue me through her solicitor. I will await this with some confidence, but will sidestep as the vicepresident as you can't function if you are privately accused. I hope this will be cleared quickly but for the time being I will not be acting as vicepresident until I'm cleared of the accusations. I always tried to keep my own business, my personal interests and the membershp of the committee separate, but apparently this line is now crossed.
best regards,
Max
