Hi all, i have just heard that there is to be a Sunday market on the Senorio De Roda site. This apparently means that some people will not be able to enter or exit their streets on Sundays.
Has anyone heard anything about this and if, do they know why it is happening on Roda.
Look forward to all replies
Chris

Hi Chris
I have been told that the market is the brainchild of the mayoress who wishes to put roda on the map! there are red lines marking the spaces for stalls on the road level with Calle Alfonse XIII and going towards the back of the community centre. If it does come about, then I suppose there will be some disruption to our sunday mornings, especially in the summer when markets traditionally get started very early. My concern would be the guarantee that all the mess will be cleared at the end of the market and the council will send refuse skips that will be emptied before the end of the day. I suppose if I am honest , I would be concerned about the numbers of non-roda people who would legitimately wander all around the streets.
As with all things spanish, time will tell if this is a good or bad idea or, indeed, if it will even get off the drawing board.

Lets hope that the security aspect of having this market does not put our properties and communal areas at any risk. I don't want any undesirables wandering around checking out properties etc?
I think we have got over that and don't want it coming back !!!

Does anyone living in Roda or anyone who has visited recently have any pictures of where the market stalls are going to be. If so, please can you put them on the webpage.
Thanks
Chris

Have just returned from Roda, unfortunately didn't take any pictures but confirm earlier posting that the red boxes run down both sides of the road behind the community centre, that runs from the F35 to the perimeter of the estate. They start at the junction before Carlos I, so I can only presume access to the top of the estate is via the perimeter road. One point however, we were told that the market would be Friday, and could have started as soon as yesterday, however there were no signs of it before we left. We too are concerned about rubbish, and the fact that the local newspaper reports of gangs of pickpockets operating at markets in Torrevieja. A market seems to be an essential of every Spanish town, so at least we are being acknowledged as a community. Maybe we can get a bus service now!
Agree that only time will tell.

Are the red lines on the small approach road at the far side of the play park, looking from the properties or actually on the street of calle Alfonso X111 at the other side of the parking bays outside the properties ?
I am going out on Sunday so if needs be I will take some photos
Are there any retrictions when these stalls can set up or do they come about 4am for a 6am start ?

If you approach Roda from the F35 (the road that runs from San Javier to Cartegena) entering the estate at the side of the appartments, the red boxes are down that road, the one some people use to cut off the traffic lights. They start just before the community centre and run down to the perimeter of the estate. It's the road that crosses all the main streets with the parking bays, Carlos I, Infanta Christina etc. I couldn't see the name plate when I looked last week, but I'm sure it must have one as your turn into the estate. You definately won't miss the boxes when you see them.

Hi
I have been told that there are road markings for 117 stalls!!! and that it is scheduled to start on friday 7th march, running from 4 - 8pm so it will be an evening market.
A few concerns there, mainly around security and litter, and, if I am honest, noise. To my mind, markets that start late in the day are usually the stalls that have something left to sell from wherever they started the day - will it attract people who are looking for the end of day prices? Parking could become quite an issue to many of the house-owners (we will probably see a lot of stay at homers or stay awayers for those hours)
Anyone with any more updates, please keep us informed,

Hi,
Just returned from Roda .While we were there, road signs were erected to notify people that there was to be no parking along the road marked out for the market on Fridays between 0600 & 14;00. This may pose an access problem, depending on the volume of parked cars and the courtesy of those parking them! Obviously it is no longer going to be an evening market! We will contact our keyholders to find out how the first day goes and I will post that information on.

Hi I think there are 2 Sunday markets,
One is the Autocine near Murcia airport, it's on your left opposite the Go Carting before you get to the airport.
The other is located on the way to San Javier, at the traffic lights (Roda) turn right as though you were going to San Javier it's on your left just after the bridge. (never been to that one).
I prefer the Saturday market behind Las Vellas good veggies there!
Amanda
