Hi All,
Please see below feedback from our visit to Condado de Alhama last week (apologies if any of this has already been covered in other threads)
We are buying a 2 bed in Jardine 3 so most of the info below is geared around 2 bedroom apartments
- remember to take a tape measure with you as this is invaluable for subsequent visits to funiture suppliers
- you have to be escorted up to the show apartments so I would advise phoning up & booking an appointment in advance (0034968012098)
- the garden itself is absolutely superb & the pool is a good size with an excellent kiddy section
- we were told by PW that the pools will all have a fence built around the tiled area for added safety
- space is tight in the living room but we reckon it will take a couple of sofas no problem - 1 in the 'bay' window & 1 with it's back against the breakfast bar
- all the bathroom fittings are good....except a ghastly (in my opinion) bright orange sink in one show apartment. We asked how we could request not to have one of these & were told to speak to customer services
- a shower screen is not included but is essential (the only price we were quoted was 299 euros inc fitting from one furniture supplier)
- make sure you check the length of beds which the twin room will take as a 2m bed will be hard to fit in (no such problem in the double)
- the small rectangular dining table seemed to be the best option for maximising the space available in the living room
- roof terrace is excellent...loads of space & the surrounding wall is a decent child friendly height
- we will definitely get a gate fitted at the top & bottom of the roof terrace stairs for added safety
Regarding completion dates, PW were unable to commit to anything other than 'from May onwards'. They were unable to say whether the Jardines would complete in any sequential order.
Feel free to ask any questions if you would like any other info.
cheers
Peter

Hi Phil,
You park your car at the sales office & then get driven in a PW vehicle up to the show apartments, where you are pretty much left alone to have a good look around.
There are 8 show apartments in total, 4 x 2 bed first floor, 3 x 3 bed ground floor& 1 x '3 bed' ground floor with the 3rd bedroom removed (this is not an option in the Jardines or Los Naranjos, only El Mirador)
When you have finished, they will drive you around the perimiter of the resort to get a feeling of what will be where.
The sheer scale of the project is truly breathtaking..........it'll be some time before we will have a crane-free view from the roof terrace!!
cheers

Thanks for the update Peter
Any news on the town centre? or sports area next to Jardin 5?
I've been reading on other sites that it will be cheaper just to get a shower screen from Leroy Merlin (siml to our B&Q) and fit yourself.
Do you recommend booking, our agent seemed to think there was no need to book anymore although I believe it's closed on a Monday for viewing the showhouses.
Can't wait till we go out at the end of next week.

Hi Michael,
The town centre & sports area are both in their early stages (and I mean early) , they are certainly well behind the individual Jardines.
My DIY skills are absolutely non-existent so I will have to rely on someone else fitting the shower screen.....I did think that 299 euros was a bit steep though so thanks for the tip.
We went up twice to see the show apartments & phoned beforehand on both occasions although it was more to be safe than sorry.
We had to drive from la Torre with an impatient 3 year old in tow & just wanted them to be aware of our arrival.
I am sure you will be impressed with what you see, good luck on the weather front!
cheers

Am delighted to hear that the apartments seem to be relatively child-friendly as I have a 3 year old and balconies, pools etc are a parents worse nightmare on holiday. Does anyone know how many Jardines apartments there are in total? - if they are handing over 10 a day from May then at least I can roughly calculate when the final handovers will be. Sad, I know, but it's like watching a carrot on a stick at the moment - so near yet so far......................

...another bit of info on the child friendly front.....the area outside the front door of the 2 bed is most definitely a usable space (think of it like a small balcony)
You could easily sit out there in the evening with a glass of wine while your little ones asleep inside instead of running up & down the sun terrace stairs every 5 minutes to check on them.
This was a major concern for my wife prior to visiting the show apartments & her mind is now completely at rest having seen the space available.
cheers

Hi everyone,
I'm new to the site,I've bought a a 2 bed on jardin 4.We were out seeing the showhome about three weeks ago and loved it.We stayed at La Torre which to be honest was a bit of a ghost town.Peter, you said you drove from La Torre, have they completed the new road which we were told was near completion? It took us nearly an hour which was a bit of trek and seem to isolate condado from the rest of the resorts. The new road is supposed to cut the journey time by more than half.

We measured the width of the 2nd bedroom and its approx 93 inches wide. So it is a bit tight as there wont be room at the end of the beds for a chest of drawers, although a radiator is likely to go centrally there. We had thought of putting the beds long ways down the room from the window but as we recall there are sockets for a bedside lights about 3ft high on wall between the twin beds and the sockets for the radiator on the adjoinging wall so that layout might not be possible. All that said- it does what it says on the box and is just a second/spare bedroom and a chest of drawers that doubles as a bedside cabinet will probably solve the problem. Its a pity the wardrobes dont have a drawer unit in them- which is what we were advised they would have when we did our veiwing/inspection visit last year.
Apparently the sink in the bathroom will be a traditional white british style sink and pedestal not one of the many coloured base cupboards that are on view in the show apartments and again not what we were told when we did that viewing last year. We were told we would have a brown table affair with a bowl style sink. Someone on another thread had that confirmed recently as did Ailmnoty on his last cisit to Condado. These fancier fitments are care of Polaris Homestyle and are additional cost.

We visited the show apartments last week and were quite impressed with the resort although the lounge area and the 2nd bedroom were a bit small. We investigated the furniture packages and they are quite expensive compared to what it would cost back here but save some time and expense of continually travelling over to Spain it may be worth it.

Hi Midge,
From what I could see from the roof terrace, the course still looks some way off.
You can see across to the penthouses where the clubhouse will be, but the course is still a dust bowl.
cheers

The new road wasn't available last week.
Any time we've tried a cross country 'short cut' it's been a disaster.
We drove down from La Torre & joined the AP7 towards Cartagena / Almeria.
There is a newish toll road which takes you through the mountains to Mazarron & then up to Alhama.
It costs 4.85 euros each way but is like getting your own private motorway!!
It took us just under an hour from La Torre to the sales office at Alhama.
cheers
