I'm afraid I agree too. We are animal lovers but given the make-up of the community and it's main purpose which seems to be holidays and breaks I don't think dogs/pets are appropriate. Are they always going to ne looked after and kept inside apartments, can we definitley feel confident that fouling will not take place across the development? I would prefer not to have any allowed.

I also agree. Although some dog owners may be responsable.not all are. And I am sure there are alot of people at HR who would like to keep the site animal free.  Mind you ,we cant do much about the birds-- what a noise they can make at times!! Ha!

When we were over at Easter ,there was a dog roaming around. It didnt seem to have an owner-most likely a stray or from the local area. We did report it, when we left to come back to UK.

Hi,
we returned from HR this week and we had a lovely time, however the subject of pets reminded me that one of our neighbours, a spanish family, had a couple of small dogs. The dogs were well behaved but i never once seen then on a lead and on a couple of occasions I had to clean up dog litter between our terrace and the pool, as we have a young daughter who obviously wanted to play in that area. I too have no problems with pets, but as always its the owners who are the problem.

I agree with the others and I will be even more unpopular as I despise dogs after an incident as a child left me scarred.

The mere idea of having any domestic animals roaming freely and fouling our beautiful resort makes me angry. Top tip, if you bring a pet to HR, please keep it on a leash or indoors if I am around. And if it is prone to yapping may I recommend some good strong gaffa tape (which I can provide).

As an aside what are the legalities of pets (dogs) on the resort where insurance is concerned? Who pays up if your animal bites another resident / guest or you contract a disease from pet faeces? Im pretty sure PW would have an interest in this area if they would be held in any way culpable.

Sorry to all you pet lovers, but I want to relax when I go on holiday. Screaming kids and drunken louts I can just about handle, but not pets as well.

Ken (grumpy bastard).

Hi folks,

well my last post certainly got fellow residents typing but on reflection i have to agree, this is not the
place for dogs, even though the dog lover inside me would love one as im here on my own,I can
see every ones points of view even Kens (grumpy bastard). I'll leave the legality bit to you Ken,

Here is another one for Points of View. Day in and day out the roadway in front of the bar, supermarket,
and golf shop is a car park,on both sides of the road bumper to bumper.I for one will be reporting it to the Presidents,  Apart from being an eye sore it is an accident waiting to happen.

Polaris put parking bays both sides of the road leading down to the hacienda for golfers to park.
Considering they walk something like 4 miles playing their round of golf asking them to walk a couple
of hundred yards extra to and from their cars isnt asking too much when lives are at stake.

Being British we all ways look right when stepping out into the road from between parked cars,in Spain
you are going to get hit from your left.

Bye for now Lennie,

I have a dog which will be coming with me when I relocate permanently in around 3 years if she is still with us a she will be 11 by then.

I specifically checked with PW that dogs are allowed before buying and she is a well behaved, large dog that NEVER goes off the lead in the UK and cettainly wouldn't on HR.

One of my hates is dog owners who can't control thier dog and don't clean up after it so you will have no issues with her.

Hopefully she will be welcomed by what is sounding like an unusual community of  British dog haters. ( I always thought we were a nation of animal lovers!)

I'm not a dog hater. Far from it. And to be fair it's not the dogs that are at fault.
They are like children. They need to be trained, and there are a lot of  iresponsible owners out there, who think that it's their  right to let there dogs roam free and make a mess wherever they like and not clear up after it.
It's that fact, that causes people to not want dogs on HR.
Not the dogs. The owners.
I,m sure that there are many owners like myself that are completely anal about cleaning up after there dog, and not letting it annoy  other people, but it only takes one person to be living next door to you who is not, and your holiday is spoiled.

Hi Everyone,

Been looking at a few of the posts and have to agree that dogs on the resort is not a good idea. Although I do love dogs, and indeed have one of my own, it is not a good idea to allow dogs on the resort because not all owners will clean up after them etc, which has already been noted on this site by the person that said there was dog mess near the pool. This is disgusting, and indeed dangerous for families with young children. I am not renting out my property, but this is far from ideal for the owners who want holiday lets.

Another point i would like to make is good restaurants etc. El Patio 2 in Los Alcazeres is good, but do check your bill. I have been twice and on both occassions been charged for food (bread etc) that never arrived at the table!.I do think the restaurants on La Torre are very good, with excellent service. The one oposite the Tapa's bar (can't remember the name) is very good and for 25 euros you can have a lovely meal which includes beer and soft drinks. Now the bus runs from hacienda to La torre, it means you can have a nice night out and have a drink without having to drive.

I have stayed in my appartment very often, and do love the resort. Everyone I have met have been really nice and can't wait to return again in two weeks time.

Hi Paul,

No . Sorry to say we are still using the old entrance with the manual lift up barrier,
The new entrance appears finished and looks very nice but in my oppinion does
not have the wow factor of  La Torre or Mar Menor.

Reason for the late opening, maybe due to technology installation which was the last
reason I was given,I will make enquiries today for an update.

Its a dismal day here with low black clouds,  rain and a bit of thunder.
A vast difference to the weather we are growing accustomed to .

Just off out to Sucina market, about a dozen stalls at the most, maybe less today.

Bye for now  Lennie.

Lennie although I have not seen the parking situation you describe I totally agree with your comments. Sounds like it needs nipping in the bud mate.

I'm in a better mood today, so sorry to all the dog lovers if I came off a bit raw. I don't hate all dogs, just the untrained roamers, but like everyone has already said it is usually the owners at fault.

Ken.

Hi Lennie

Another website has posts about activity around Riquelme railway station.   Could it be that they may be opening this up to commuters?.   That would be brilliant for renters, investors and residents alike.

Hope the weather in Spain is back on track now......just realised I'd  made a pun.

Also sent a pm.

All the best

Linda

The new gates are open now.
I know because my husband and I drove through them as we left to go home on Thurs eve. Earlier on in the day we saw workmen hauling the barriers away from the gate towards the temp gate and although the new gate was still thronged with workmen and their vehicles we drove up and hey presto the barrier lifted and we made our exit!

That's great news Tess.   First impressions are the most important and will help to make HR look more like the exclusive development rather than the 2nd rate resort that the temporary entrance made it appear to be.   Once the Hacienda has been fully restored and the entertainment/catering complex is fully functioning I believe i will be q quite spectacular place.   All we need now are the roads leading to the resort and those on to Murcia to be finished and a local railway station to be operational and...hey presto.....we should all be on to a winner.

Linda, did you find out what all the activity was about around the railway station?. You are right ,we do need it open a.s.a.p. This would really put H.R. on the map and help keep up values of property and improve rental potential. We need to contact the "ones with power " how we do that I don't know anyone got any ideas.

Can Resortalia not help?  They must have some contacts within the Polaris higher management?  If we can sell it to Polaris as a good money making investment for them they are likely to give it a shot.

Simple business plan, railway = better access = wider market = more punters staying in resort = more people eating and drinking Polaris products purchased in resort.

In addition, better rental potential for holiday home owners = increased exposure = increased good reputation = higher property and rental values.

It's not difficult, I agree we need to push this.  Not sure how.  Anyone who lives in resort any ideas?  Does anyone have Polaris's ear?

Ken.

Thanks to ColaLT's link I have just had my first look at the HR Community website.
There is a president dedicated to infrastructure who may be our man regarding the train issue. I'd be grateful if other forum members could check it out and see what they think.
Can't add the link as like Linda haven't done enough posts but ColaLT's link can be found in Sat 19th July's post.
