We drove from Malaga to Santiago de la Ribera, stopped off at Almeria for 2 nights. Couldn't get out of town actually as there was a beer festival on & the place was packed all day /night. We had a great time, hadn't realised the festival was on when we booked the hotel!! The drive was very smooth but a little hairy in place where you go over ravines etc, but the roads were fantastic (it was August about 2 years ago) We like to stop off so that we can see other places, so I can't give you any journey times I'm afraid.
Enjoy the trip. I am sure you will have a great time.

Hi Jewels50
we live approx 10 mins from Santiago de la Ribera
last November we went to Puerto Banus on hols and drove there
it took us approx 5 hours not counting coffee breaks/toilet stops and not driving at breakneck speed !
if you can work out how long Cadiz to Puerto Baus takes them this may be of help
of course it will also depend on level of traffic as Nov tends to be fairly quiet
hope this helps
enjoy your break as the Mar Menor is particularly gorgeous (although I admit I am biased !!)
Regards

Have to agree with hiemmerson
The Mar menor is lovely. Looking forward to getting away from this dismal weather.
Although it's all over too quickly. Must be fabulous to live there full time. We have neighbours that have retired over and they love it. Few years to go until we can join them .
Will miss you this time Jewels but will see you next time we come over. I'll take my note book with me this time and get some more e mails to you when we come back

Hi All,
Well, w¡hat can I say? It is absolutely fabulous here. Ther weather is boiling hot and we´´ve been on the beach all day today. Excuse the spelling, had a few sangrias, but the night is young.
Yep, looking forward to the party next week. Daughter wants to go on MSN so I´ve had to join in and keep her company LOL.
Jewels, you will love it here. There is so much going on the promenade tonight.

How have you got onto the internet? Are you using a dongle? If you are, assume it works great.
Glad the weather is good out there, fine here at the moment but rain clouds on the horizon!
Ruth can't wait to get out there, almost down to counting the hours, the girls have been packed for days now.
Bring some sunshine back here when you come home.
Enjoy the rest of your stay - hope the juggling festival is fun.
