Trying not to be thick here - but where are you Hudsey? - I presume near the Mar Menor?? Gina & I could have playmates (!) for your boys - 2x 15 year old girls - hmmmmm - bring the stick LOL!!! Also have a 12 year old son who is seriously glued to his Nintendo (surgical removal in the offing)
Seriously, it would be nice to put faces to names (I'm the Jessica Rabbit look alike )

P.S. Hudsey - the Jet 2 flights from Leeds to Murcia came out today so wouldn't have thought the Newcastle ones would be far behind. Bit expensive from Leeds though - have even resorted to flying out of Manchester & back to leeds next Easter to keep the costs down - what happened to low cost airlines .

Hi Annie
We fly out from Leeds although Doncaster is nearer, the taxes there are horrendous. We have also used East Midlands but prefer to fly into San Javier than Alicante, so Leeds it is. We have managed reasonable costs so far, but only because we booked so far in advance (even booked for October). There were some flights over the next 3 weeks from Leeds at £4.99 out & £29 back, but they did change from day to day. I guess we just have to keep watching the web site. Manchester is ok but the drive over from Sheffield can be hairy & parking can be costly.
Did anyone notice that the cheap airlines could move to the new airport near Murcia when it opens?

Hi Eilben
We too prefer flying to San Javier than Alicante although neighbours say it's a very easy run down. Just go with what we know I guess. Prefer going from Leeds as it's the closest airport to York but have been from East Midlands, Newcastle, Birmingham, Manchester etc. The cheap flights are never in the school hols though so have to shop around. I tend to book the flights on (hopefully) the day they come out - am now booked up to & including next Easter!
Hadn't thought about Doncaster though - why are the taxes dearer? Hope the low cost airlines do not move when the new Corvera airport opens - although can see that they might. Five mins max from San Javier & we're home .

Hi Annie
Voddies me??? How very dare you . You know full well i am a total tea total!!!!
Hi Eileen,
wonder how long it would take from new airport as it is only a 10 minute drive at the moment to ours from Murcia. Suppose it will depend on prices I guess.

Hola amigos/amigas ! Just returned and am now so envious reading all your posts planning to go at half term that I want to come with you. The weather was sooooooooo fantastic this week that I really didn't want to come back at all. Spanish friends think it's quite strange as they've been catapulted into August temperatures - it's at least 10 degrees higher than usual for May. Towards the end of this week it was 35 plus! On Thursday I couldn't sleep and was on the beach at 6am. I've got the most amazing photos of the sunrise over a mill-pond calm mediterranean sea. Needless to say I walked back to the house and fell fast asleep again!
Dos Mares on Sanish Mother's day was a sight - no room to move, but great atmosphere. I have to wait now until July to go back. For any of you going in July, they've just announced the events and performers at the San Javier Jazz festival. George Benson is there but as yet I've no idea of the dates of individual concerts.

Hi Gina/ Annie
I have no idea why taxes at Doncaster are higher. I assume it because its Thomsonfly at the moment. I keep checking to see if they come down.
We have done the Alicante run, it can be very pleasant but around Torrevieja the traffic is horrendous. We shall still go to San Javier.
We are looking forward to July & the jazz, although not a great fan, the events are quite fantastic, or so I understand.
Get loads of ice in Gina, looks like it will be needed.

Hi Eileen - I'm trying to find out more about the concerts, they are very enjoyable, just to be out in the open air listening to music. Must own up to leaving one early last year as it was too traditional jazz for me. I'm more of an 'easy listening' type of person - age probably!
The local papers reported that some of the low cost airlines have agree to move to the new airport at Corvera when it opens. I wouldn't worry too much at this stage, the airport was due to open next year and in typical spanish style it's so far behind that they've only just selected the tender for the job. Can't see it operational for years yet. I'm delighted that BMI baby now fly directly from Cardiff to San Xavier, it's a much nicer airport as well as being so convenient for the house. Friends were badly robbed at Alicante on their arrival for their Easter break, and I hate the motorway drive from Alicante to Pilar. I hope BMI stay with San Xavier, but Corvera is still better than Alicante.
Gina - hope hubby was ok - the plane was so full going out, I didn't even see my family sitting a few rows back! I'm now counting the days to the end of June - how sad are we!!

Hi to all, Looking forward to my trip, 2 weeks today. We are flying Jet2 from Newcastle to Murcia, 4 x adult - £612. Not cheap. I see the price has dropped a little since I paid for mine.
Mixed feelings, nerves, excitement, etc. Aaarrhhh just read 'Counting the Costa' on a message thread, sent a wave of panic over me. I will be looking to rent out. Will keep checking it for updates, didn't know anything about this, I thought as long as you paid your taxes you would be ok.
Annie21, sure my boys would like their new pals. They are also super glued to their xbox, hubby to the computer and me, well I'm chained to the kitchen sink. Escape occasionally to tap away at the keyboard.
Enjoying a very large glass of vino, cheers!

Candy yes everything going to plan at the moment have used 4xcc.com for the money transfers as they show you live dealing rates and you can buy at the time you want to.
Currencies direct were giving us 1.4465 on a transfer of 111000 pounds I was able to deal at 1.4562 saving quite a bit
I am coming over with the furniture and bits with my two daughters both 13 and the wife is flying due to the van seating
